Hi I'm New!

Just found this board as I have always hated my wavy, curly hair too. Remember ironing it in the 70's on a board. But, my husband loves it and now that I have been talking and flat out asking people what they put on their curly hair to make it so nice, I can now say I am enjoying my curls. Just bought the Ouidad starter kit and they are coming out really springly and finally not frizzy and all dried out looking. Any new advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated. And, I look forward to talking to you all....

ha ha ha!! Had to laugh at that. I, too, did the ironing board thing. And, I didn't even cover my hair with a tea towel or anything to protect it! Did the hair-straightening kits, rolled my hair in juice cans, pulled a nylong over my head, vacuumed it dry!! (This method works REALLY well, but is hard on the old vacuum. I destroyed the motor in my mother's Electrolux. I then bought a used reconditioned vacuum used expressly for my hair and was careful to squeeze-dry it with a towel as much as possible before putting it into the hose.) I have very short hair now and have had it that way for the last 5 years. Am just beginning the process to let it grow out. It's been over 5 weeks since the last hair cut (I usually go every 3-4 weeks, with a "nape and over-the-ear" trim" in between cuts) and I'm really excited about growing it out. My hair grows abnornally fast, a curse when you want it short but it will be a blessing now! It's time to stop fighting the curl! Tomorrow morning, I go for my first trim to shape the growing-out process. My stylist doesn't know yet that I've decided to do this! Man, will she be in for a shock!! icon_razz.gif
