What curl type is Keri Russell?

in Celebs' Hair
I'm still not very good at identifying the different types of curls yet. Just curious what you think her natural texture is. Also any guesses on how she styles it (or have any of you perhaps read articles where she talked about her routine)?
When it was longer, it seemed like loose waves. But I saw a recent magazine cover (Lucky) where it seemed like bigger curls now that it's shorter. Love her hair!

3A curls, fine texture, thin (it's always been that way). A few inches past shoulder length and would like it to grow very long.

Which I think would be a 3A/B. To me, anyways. The styling just leaves a little bit to be desired, IMO.
HATE: plopping, FOTE on wet hair, BRHG

Oh really? I think it's super pretty.
It's not very defined, I suppose, but I like how it seems so carefree and romantic.

I think the pics where her pattern is looser might be after blow drying/using curling irons to change the curls. Could be wrong though.

Oh darn! I hate when I see a great curly look, but it takes a lot of heat styling and work to achieve. Thanks for the replies though.

Haven't seen her curls for years though. Unless pregnancy and child birth changed her curl pattern (drastically) I just assumed she had become a serial straightener....unfortunately.

I'm now at season four, and her curls are something between 3A and 3B, my hair looks exactly like hers, and to be honest, my hair looked exactly like hers in the picture above when i was little.
But after several weird haircuts and different colours, my curlpattern changed too over the years.
Apparently your whole body gets renewed every 7 years.
So it takes your body 7 years to change every cell, just as well as your hair i guess.
Her curls got a lot looser IMO and i love her hair no matter what it looks like, but i agree with helloyellowbird, she has to stop straightening her hair! I think it makes her look too serious and a lot older than she really is..

I think it's the styling methods used and her haircut. Before her big chop, she had a bad hair cut. She always had slightly frizzy, pyramid hair. Once her hair began to grow out, it looked as if she had a cut that worked with her curls and she used better products.
Yellowbird -- I don't think she has a relaxer because many of the pics of her when she is just about town show her with curly hair pulled back. I think she just has great stylists who are pros at making her hair look naturally straight.

Um am I looking at the wrong photo? This isn't Keri Russell. That's Rosario Dawson.
Beginner CG.

You probably want to start a new thread on Rosario Dawson. She has medium fine, 2b waves. Her hair tends to be straight when cut very short and has big waves and sometimes loose curls the longer it gets. (Think Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy's Christina) without the hair being coarse and as plenty.)

I think you're right, my hair used to be as tightly curled as Keri's when i was younger but after years of brushing, hairdye and cutting my hair in different styles, it changed a lot. It has changed a lot after i went CG too, my curls are finally starting to come back.
It defenitely looks like she had started the CG method too, her hair looks a lot more shiny and healthy with much less frizz.
It's the volume that's been reduced after her big chop.
But her hair looks a lot more healthy now than it did in season one for instance.
Hopefully she'll start wearing her curls more often again, she's an amazing actress with a great personality and a beautiful complexion, it's a shame the stylist (or maybe just she) is trying to change that.

She had such beautiful curls! I loved them when she was on Felicity and before. It makes me sad to see her curls all wilted. I don't like her new look. :-(

I'm sorry, but that cover is not Rosario Dawson. This is: www.imdb.com/media/rm1190171904/nm0206257 You can see many more pictures of her and her hair at this same site - none of them are very curly. About the curliest, worn natural on the very last page of her pictures, looks to be 2c/3a at most.

Yes yes, I know. I linked the photo when it WAS Rosario Dawson. Apparently Allure just copies over the photo with the same file name and it shows the current issue. Right click - properties and you will see what I mean. I updated the thread when I realized my mistake.

WOW!!! Never thought I'd find a celeb hair twin! My curl texture/formation is identical to this when I'm not forcing my hair into clumping more, LOL. But I am very envious of her root curl and volume. Nicole Kidman also used to have a beautiful head of natural 3B curls. *sigh* Hollywood...
