Hello all. I know you are all busy and I appreciate the help. I might be in the wrong area but I wasn't sure where to put this.

I am 31 yrs old, and am now short and natural for the second time in my life (but the first was just to start over for locs and it wasn't free for long).

Hair background: I had locs for over 8 years, through 3 pregnancies. I started them myself (with a friend) so they were randomly spaced and placed but they were to my lower back when I cut them about 2 weeks ago.
Before that, I had braids for several years and before that I had relaxers. I don't remember being a child without a relaxer or hot combs. My mother didn't know much about hair or how to keep it healthy and still goes to the salon every other week and uses pink moisturizer.

Anyway, I feel kinda weird b/c I did a big chop but my hair was already natural, just locked. I admit though, I did NOT take great care of my hair while it was locked. I used Carol's Daughter and other natural products most of the time but would go very long stretches without washing or conditioning. I had very dry scalp and just neglected myself (busy being mom).

Now, I am committed to growing healthy hair. I have NO IDEA what it really looks like or will look like b/c it has never really been free. I always thought I had "bad hair" and weak hair and that locs were the only way it would look nice.

Here is me now (has pics with my locs and with the new short hair) : http://www.new.facebook.com/album.ph...d&id=537981651

Okay, now to my questions.

I have a WONDERFUL natural hair dresser who is at a top salon in Nashville. She is brilliant.
The routine she started me on was:
Only wash every 3 or so days as needed.
Wash day:
Redken Real Control Shampoo or Kerastase shampoo
Redken Real Control Renewal Mask
Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat for Leave in
Kerastase OLÉO-RELAX
Redken Rewind 06 for styling

On non-wash days I was to wet and then do from the Butter treat on.

I did that for about 1 1/2 weeks but I like to try new things and I really want to play with this new hair so I went and got some [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] after reading here and I also saw Hair Rules while I was there. I tried the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] after a wash and conditioned with KCKT and left it in. I am am sure I used too much [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] b/c it was a little crunchy but it looked GREAT! Then the next day I tried the Hair today (which I have for sale on the swap board) and it did NOTHING for my hair. So I am trying to get rid of it.

Anyway, now I tried the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] again and it isn't really doing much curl definition. It is soft and not crunchy again. I used less b/c it didn't seem very defined but I just went back in and sprayed it wet and added more [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink]. Did I jack up my hair by trying too much or too many products at once?

When I put the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] in it is white, milkish looking but seems to go away as it dries, but as you know that takes forever! Am I using too much? My hair is very short, so will it just not be defined or is that b/c of my hair texture? I think I am a 4B with patches of 4a. But who knows? My hair locs VERY easily and my hair is the picture of shrinkage. It is very soft and tight.

Please feel free to recommend products to me. I so badly want this to work out. I WANT my hair to be the best it can be. I want it to be healthy and beautiful for what it is. I will not go back to braids or a weave or anything. My only other option if this doesn't go well is Sisterlocs which is fine, but if I can rock it natural, I will. I believe it will grow b/c if I can grow it in locks, I can grow it now.

Should I try a curly puding? I have watched a bunch of YouTube videos, especially Teshon's. Thank you to everyone who has product reviews and how-tos. I am thinking of getting the Ohm body puding and/or the Curls by sister smith puding. Both seem great but is my hair too short to be trying these products. Should I just chill and concentrate on growth?

Thanks for any help or encouragement.

Blessings,
Micky
