i have not gone to either, but would like to know if it is worth the trip for me pricewise. i have other beauty supply stores near me that give a discount, but am wondering if the prices at either sally's or ulta is worth a drive to??
anyone go to these stores and buy deva products? if so, what sizes, and what prices?
thanks!

I've only been to Ulta (but I just found out there's a Sally's 5 mins away so I'll have to check them out soon). The Deva prices at Ulta are about the same as you would find online except you don't have to pay for shipping obviously. I wasn't impressed by the selection of Deva products they had available though, but that might vary by location.

Ulta's larger, nicer, has a lot of cosmetics in every price range (from Wet 'n' Wild and Maybelline to Urban DeCay, Stila, Amazing Cosmetics, Bare Minerals, etc. - about anything except Estee, Lancome, Clinique, although they do have some of these fragrances), and a lot of salon brand name hair products (Redken, Paul Mitchell, Deva, Mop-C, Alagio, etc. to name but a few), as well as drugstore brands, most perfume lines, spa products, styling equipment and has an in-store salon. Their prices are about the same as you'd find the same products elsewhere - sometimes a little cheaper. They have some cosmetics and hair products/equipment that are supposedly only available on TV.

Sally's originally catered to stylists and carries what are meant to be professional products - few salon retail brands as listed above. They have a full line of professional nail products and some cosmetics products, too, but not the quantity or brands that you can find at Ulta. Prices are usually very reasonable, sometimes quite cheap, but except for equipment, it's not necessarily brands you're familiar with - unless you've heard about them on these boards.

Both stores have loyalty cards that can earn you discounts.
    2C/3A/3B - modified CG - fairly fine now, normal/low porosity/normal elasticity

Current Main Rotation: MG217 medicated or Aim2Health 'poos for scalp, Elucence cond., Spiral Solutions Protein & Deeply Decadent Cond., CJCCCC reg or lite,CJ Pattern Pusha,, Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz + lots more, sporadically

HG Method: Super Soaker + Smasters-ing, brief upside down diffusing w/360o diffuser then clips/clamps & air dry. Newly gray - stopped my henna glosses!

Sally's doesn't have the major brands you would find in an Ulta or other BSS. I too use the GVP Biolage conditioning balm and love it as a co-wash. It's so detangling and rich (I water down)
