"Train" hair to become curly? Kinky curly as a wet set?

Is there a way you can "train" your hair to be curly? Being as though im in transition, ive been wearing wet sets, braid and twist outs? Also, being as though the Kinky Curly didnt work for me, (It only worked for my new growth, but that's all) can I use that for wet sets, braid outs, etc.?

i don't think the kinky curly is meant for relaxed hair
