Obama's 30 min TV AD

NayaNaya Posts: 922Registered Users
I'm early, I know it's still on but how touching was that? I can't think of another word other than touching. I have NEVER felt able to connect to a presidential hopeful before. Listening to the stories of the people... what he wants to do for the country. I could actually RELATE to what he was talking about!

I know an immigrant who came here for a better life (my parents!)
I know someone struggling to pay school loans (me!)
I know small business owners
I know someone who struggled with poor healthcare (my gram!)

I want to hug Obama :D

OBAMA 08!!!!

What do you guys think?

Loved it! It really showed how so very PRO American Obama is. He seems really genuine and compassionate. No acting there. I think he will be great for our country AND its people. It really gives me hope for a better tomorrow!

BTW...I wish I could hug him too!

    GO OBAMA!

You hit the nail on the head for me, because that is EXACTLY how I feel, too.

He is Inspiring with a capital I.
He's the kind of person that makes you want to go out and better your self and help others to do better as well. THAT is the kind of leader that we so very, very desperately need.

    Obama MUST win.

On a more personal note...geeez, man when he was talking about his mom dying and the fight with the ins. companies and how she never got to see her grandchildren.. same exact thing with my mom. It's weird when your life parallels with someone else's life for a moment. I wish I could give him a hug and just say "I know... me too..."

Obama gives me hope. Never before in the history of me, have I ever said that a politician gave me hope.

    Amazing.

YES!! And wasn't that McCain that said EVERYONE has access to healthcare? And in such a short amount of time how many of us know someone who suffered because they were without it. :angry7:

I thought it was fabulous! I went to the gym after work and it had been on on the east coast but not here yet. At the gym I am subjected to Faux News and Hannity and that creepy Guiliani guy were saying how awful the ad was - totally over produced and embarrassing they said. (I do work out wearing an Obama shirt to counteract the propaganda I am subjected to)

I thought it rocked, was exactly what he needed to do right now, and I am so proud that I helped him pay for it in my very modest way.

    Go Obama, It's your birthday!

It made me tear up when he was talking to the older man that didn't get all of his retirement. He went from $1500 a month to $379. You could tell he was swallowing back tears.

Very very touching, before I saw it I thought "Why would you buy 30 min of air time for a commercial instead of doing some show?" I now see why he did this and think it is much more effective than a show slot. You get to connect with Obama on a more personal level, I think it humbled his image further.

    Loved it!

I know! When he put that Walmart tag on then they showed his wife putting lotion on her poor fingers I thought my heart would break! I cried through all the people stories. How has our country sunk so low?

Please oh please let this good, kind man be elected! I know he can't and won't solve all our problems but for the first time in many many years I actually feel real hope. :angel9:

I loved it. It choked me up in parts and made me feel very proud of this country (which I have not felt in quite sometime).

Same here. I just want 11/5 to be here already. This might sound lame because for so many years I've believed they are all the same and no president one will really change my life. But I think of McCain winning and I tear up. I worry that that financially I'll be back where I was 15 years ago. Struggling to pay the bills, seeing my cupboards almost bare and having to choose between paying a bill, going to the grocery store or or saving it up to have enough for a dr's visit.

I don't know if Obama will make things much better, but I think he will try to help people like me. I don't get that feeling of hopelessness when I think of him winning.

Ditto that, except in addition to tearing up I get a sinking feeling of dread and a blinding pain behind my eyes. The idea that he would lead this country makes me physically sick.

Omaba, his message, his honesty, warms my heart. He's inspiring. He is how Americans should strive to be: concerned about the people around him, and how to help the people who can't help themselves, rather than the corporations who are perfectly capable of helping themselves.

How anyone could find that ad awful has to be heartless and un-humane! It's awful that is what our country has come to and THAT is embarrassing, but what was said in the ad was full of hope, inspiration, and love for ALL Americans! I, too, for the first time ever, felt proud to be an American. It has been very hard to be proud with Bush as president, our economy in shambles, and being at war. But I pray (and I'm not religious either) that Obama wins and makes our country strong and proud and we can relearn the meaning of the American Dream!

I watched his 30 minute segment last night and my eyes welled up with tears and I cried, especially when he spoke about his mother and her death - brought back tons of memories of my mom and her death. He is an amazing man and I truly hope he becomes our next president. He's so inspiring and has truly made me a stronger believer in America and what we really stand for. He's awesome!

I feel the same way. I think he got a lot of people involved in his campaign and truly made it a team effort. My sister, who usually does NOT care one way or the other really cares this time around. She is 40, so she's been through a few elections.

She volunteered. She donated. She and her husband participated actively.

I feel like we are seeing something a bit different this time around and I can only hope that it's enough. I just want election day to be here.

Yes, I've read the bad press, but I think the writers of that stuff haven't thought about how much money can be found by ending the war and closing up the loopholes that the uber-rich exploit to get richer. Obama wants to do similar things that got us out of the Great Depression...public works and highways and bridges that make high-paying jobs and improve all our lives. I'm optimistic that Obama will try his very best to keep his promises...and I've NEVER said that about a president before, even Bill Clinton, because nearly all of them are such liars. Maybe I'm naive, maybe I drank the KoolAid, but this feels so much different to me than any previous candidate before.
