Y'know, I always thought Shatner was a little off his rocker.
"And politically correct is the worst term, not just because it’s dismissive, but because it narrows down the whole social justice spectrum to this idea that it’s about being polite instead of about dismantling the oppressive social structure of power.
Fun Fact: When you actively avoid being “PC,” you’re not being forward-thinking or unique. You’re buying into systems of oppression that have existed since before you were even born, and you’re keeping those systems in place."

What the hell was that supposed to be?
A campaign ad, a public service announcement, a movie clip? What exactly was his point supposed to be...? I'm a gun-owner and I found it to be ridiculously stupid.

Thank you!!!! Some of you actually responded and put into words what I was thinking.

My friend's husband sent me the video along with a long email on his positions on unions, education and pay for teachers. He wrote something along the lines of, "look at this video and you will come to the same conclusion as I have."

I just don't get the message. If Obama wins, citizens won't have the right to protect themselves? Vote for McCain and we can all have guns?

I don't know what to respond to the guy.

I think the NRA is trying to scare people into thinking that Obama is going to take everyone's guns away.
    nonsense.

Well, actually if Obama wants to take the gun away from the lunatic, trigger-happay freak portrayed in that video, more power to ya, Obama!

I really despise cocky, arrogant "thinking they're in the old west" gun-owners. It really makes me angry.

i'm pretty sure that's a clip from "boston legal." the character shatner plays on it, denny crane, is a right wing republican & a bit of a blowhard. no one takes him seriously on the show.

the guy who writes the series, david e. kelley (husband of michelle pfeiffer) is a liberal who often uses over the top humor in the show to make a political point. looks like that clip's been taken out of context.

Poor William Shatner, having people think a fictional blowhard's views are his own!
    OMG, LOOK!!

    ...It's a siggie.

i read somewhere in an interview (done during the primaries) that he'd probably be supporting obama. don't know if he's still a canadian citizen.

in the same interview, he said his denny crane character would probably think mccain was a leftie.

I was very confused by the clip. "Gun Control?" I thought "This is a clip from Boston Legal. His character is nuts" :laughing2:
