PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, apparently because of her political views, Pittsburgh police said.According to WTAE's news exchange partners at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Ashley Todd, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her and put a knife to her throat.Police spokeswoman Diane Richard said the robber took $60 from Todd, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said.

Clearwater - Frank Armstrong was preparing to go for a jog this morning when he noticed his Lexus – adorned with a McCain-Palin sticker - had been vandalized with obscenities and a burned American flag.
Armstrong discovered the damage to his 2006 Lexus about 8:30 a.m. at his Sand Key condominium at 1400 Gulf Blvd. Clearwater police and Armstrong said someone etched obscenities and "KKK" into the paint, burned several areas of the car with cigarettes, set the flag on fire on his hood and may have urinated on the vehicle. Officers and Armstrong think the car was singled out because of its political stickers, including one reading "Nobama."
"This is definitely a hate crime," said Armstrong, a 41-year-old physician.

Your leaps of illogic are tiresome. I would rather read a valid criticism against Obama than this dribble of suppositions and assumptions.

OMG - you want to compare crazy supporter stories??? You want to talk about dead bears and other grusome symbols used by McCain supporters? By the way - I call crap on that ATM robbery story -doesnt make sense. Check out the picture of her dressed up as a baby Obama on her "in the field" page. Offensive. Story stinks too - look at TMZ.

Even Bill O'Reilly think something about this story doesn't pass the smell test. I find the whole carving her face thing strange and suspicioius. We'll see if it's true.

And the "kill him" allegation at a McCain rally is completely unfounded. /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.timesleader.com%2Fnews%2Fbreakingnews%2FSecret_Service_says_Kill_him_allegation_unfounded_.html" class="Popup

And how did he get the "B" so straight...wouldn't she have been squirming and trying to get away.... or was she knocked out?

Susan, first of all, that first story about the knife attack doesn't add up. It sounds, underneath it all, nonsensical, and I don't buy it.

Again, you're not offering any information on what McCain can do for this country. You're just continuing with the childish fingerpointing, hypocrisy, and blind support.

Lastly, as long as "McCain supporters" are doing ***** like this, you can stop with the hypocrisy and finger-pointing: /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DtUf-cVLoPL4" class="Popup

I'm assuming you and McCain's constituents are constantly whining and fingerpointing childishly because McCain's campaign has nothing of substance to offer conservatives, or this country as a whole. I truly now believe this must be the case.

Because nothing can explain why everytime I watch McCain, he's attacking others like a chihuahua (all bark and no bite; bite = substance, vital information), whining and being hypocritical, and denying accountability for his own actions. The same goes for that embarrassment to women everywhere, Palin, and anyone who so blindly supports him.

The McCain campaign really latched onto this particular case. Both McCain and Palin called the woman and her family, I guess to offer their sympathy for the big-bad-obama supporters attacking her. Now, though, it looks like the woman is lying. The police want her to take a lie detector test before pursuing the case further because there are inconsistencies in her story. So, once again McCain is using poor judgment by not vetting before going into something whole hog. He's a loose cannon. Erratic. As crazy as his followers.

I agree, particularly with the bolded. He isn't concerning himself with research or rational decisions. That's a huge, huge problem for me that is completely independent of the fact that I loathe his policies. That should be a big concern for anyone regardless of whether they agree with his policies.

I was horrified at this story, but after some thought, it sounds a little fishy to me. How horrible if it really happened as she said it did though.

Sorry, I'm still stuck on the first story...
why is the B backwards? Did she scratch the b into her face in the mirror and then didn't realize that it would be backwards...? If an attacker did it, would he have reallly thought that hard about it to scratch it in backwards so she woud be able to read it when she looked in the mirror? Most robbers, once they get their money they are going to flee the scene... not stick around and carefully scratch backwards letters into their victim's faces. When money is the motive, it's usually, get the money and then get the hell out of there.

    just sayin'.
If it IS true, then I feel very bad for this poor woman. But the cynical side of me has a lot of questions. And it isn't because this is a McCain supporter. If she had a M scratched into her face, under the same circumstances, I'd still be scratching my head over this. (I just know some McCain person is going to come on here saying how horrible I am for questioning this woman...)

Maybe she was actually robbed, but then later scratched the B into her face and came up with the story about her bumper sticker and the guy becoming enraged.

Police: 'Inconsistencies' In Story Of Politically Motivated Attack

Woman Robbed With Knife At Bloomfield ATM

    POSTED: 4:03 pm EDT October 23, 2008
    UPDATED: 9:18 am EDT October 24, 2008
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh police are still questioning a 20-year-old woman who said she was robbed and assaulted at an ATM in Bloomfield because of her political views.Ashley Todd, of College Station, Texas, said she was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her and put a knife to her throat.Police spokeswoman Diane Richard said the robber took $60 from Todd, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using a dull knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said."She further stated that the male actor approached her from the back again and hit her in the back of her head with an object, she doesn't know what the object was, causing her to fall to the ground where he continued to punch her and kick her and threaten to 'teach her a lesson' for being a McCain supporter," Richard said.Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.Speaking to Channel 4 Action News on Friday, Richard said they're still questioning Todd because of some new developments."We have learned that the victim's statement has a few inconsistencies in it and her statement has changed," said RichardRichard said Todd now says she isn't sure if it was a bumper sticker on her car or a campaign button on her jacket that angered the attacker. Richard said Todd added new details to the attack, saying at one point she lost consciousness."She also indicated she was sexually assaulted as well. She indicated that when he had her on the ground he put his hand up her blouse and started fondling her. But other than that, she says she doesn't remember anything else. So we're adding a sexual assault to this as well," Richard said. The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.New Video:video.gifRaw Interview: Police Spokeswoman Talks to WTAEThe Obama-Biden campaign released a statement, commenting on the attack. The statement said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is swiftly apprehended and brought to justice."The McCain-Palin campaign also released a statement saying, "The McCain campaign is aware of the incident involving one of its volunteers. Out of respect, the campaign won't be commenting. The campaign also confirms that Senator McCain and Governor Palin have both spoken to the woman."

Funny how this thread has morphed into "McCain supporters out of control." This was a pathetic attempt to paint Obama supporters as thugs and grab some lime light while at it. If this story had been more plausible she would have hit the campaign trail with them as "Ashley the Victim of DomesticTerrorism by Obama associate" standing next to Joe the Plumber. November 5 cannot come fast enough for me.

I'd actually agree with the assertion that he is a loose cannon. I'm not even speaking about any parties contacting this allleged woman. I'm speaking of McCain's erratic behavior and choices as of late and his lack of sound judgment. He seems especially bizarre and unlike the man I used to admire (YEARS ago).

An Obama spokesperson made a statement, versus McCain and Palin both contacted this woman personally. Was he necessarily wrong to do so before it became apparent that this woman wasn't particularly reliable? Meh, maybe not. But you can't equate a spokesperson's statement with two personal phone calls.

You should always, always do some reading in a forum you're new to before you post. Always. You wouldn't walk into a room full of people you don't know and start shouting, would you? Same principle.

And you're right. We are angry. We're in financial crisis, we're at war on two major fronts, and we're at a crux in history regarding civil and reproductive rights. This election means a lot. It's important, not only to Americans but to citizens of the world. We need a leader who is going to consider his options carefully before making decisions. We need a leader who is concerned about the well being of all citizens, not just the ones he deems appropriately patriotic. We need a leader who will repair our relations with foreign nations. And we need a leader who will keep his figurative nose out of our very literal uteri.

Did I equate. Re-read my statement. And even if the story turns out to be true which I find her tale to be suspicious. I don't think one whacko supporter is representative of Obama and his campaign. I'm amazed at how people on both sides are ready to pounce on anything in order to trash the other campaign. By the way there are many commentators and pundits on the right who are voting McCain but find this story sketchy. I still wouldn't hold it against McCain and Palin for reaching out. If the situation was reverse I would find most of y'alls comments equally silly.

Yikes! I should have read this before I started my thread: Obama and Abortion. Then, I would have known that opinions don't matter in this election! Everyone seems very, very, angry:argue:.

    Agreed.

    Michelle, you said:

And I say: "WELL SAID!!!" and completely "AGREE"

Did I equate. Re-read my statement. And even if the story turns out to be true which I find her tale to be suspicious. I don't think one whacko supporter is representative of Obama and his campaign. I'm amazed at how people on both sides are ready to pounce on anything in order to trash the other campaign. By the way there are many commentators and pundits on the right who are voting McCain but find this story sketchy. I still wouldn't hold it against McCain and Palin for reaching out. If the situation was reverse I would find most of y'alls comments equally silly.

I won't hold it against them for reaching out to her when they thought it was true. Now if they bring her up again knowing that her story is shaky at best, that would be really dumb on their part. Just as if Obama's folks hadn't released a statement if would have been a mad move on their part.
