Glycerin

Hello curly headed ladies. I have just decided that I want to make my own hairdress for my hair. After posting in another thread I had a few ladies tell me that what I need to worry about most as a newly natural lady is moisture, moisture, moisture. I was told the two main things I should look for in a product is glycerin and water. I was wondering if anyone has a formula that they have mixed together that worked great with their hair that contained glycerin and water. I have used motions but I want to see if I can create something myself that might work just as good or better than motions. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks in advance.

If you are interested in a spray product, I make a spritz out of distilled water, aloe vera juice, glycerin and essential oil. I never measure the ingredients but I would guess that it's roughly 1 part glycerin, 1-2 parts water, 3 parts AVJ and a few drops of hair -friendly EO (rosemary, peppermint, lavender). I increase the glycerin during humid weeks and use more aloe when it's drier.
Hair loves: aloe vera juice, cocoa butter, camellia oil

Thanks so much. I will have to try that. What's AVJ?

    Hi!

We don't have to same hair type, but here is a leave in/rinse that works well for me that has a lot of humectants and moisture.

    Equal parts:

    VO5 any flavor
    Glycerin
    Honey
    Aloe Vera Gel (pure)

A squirt of any kind of leave in, I use Giovanni Direct Leave In

Some water to thin it out, I use it as a lotion/rinse type of thing.

This leaves my hair really moisturized.
Wavy, curly on the ends, 2C.
Coarse to medium textured, porous, dry, and lots of it.
    Shampoo--HSH Pumpkin, Abba Pure Moisture
    LVPNG, HSH Pumpkin, Walgreen's Knockoffs--Condish/Cowash
    AOHR, Nexxus, EO--LI
    CK & ReCoil--Activator
    Suave Max Hold, Alagio Curl-Gel

Hey, I'm new but I have just started using a mix of distilled water (no minerals) and 100% glycerine (by africare...its vegetarian found it in the hair store, but I think you can get it from health food stores too). Use equal parts of the two in a spray bottle it works GREAT. I just mist my hair with it in my daily routine of styling before I add other products and it gives it a nice "shine" if you will, and my hair feels SOOOOO soft. (I think my hair drinks it up!) I don't think we have the same hair type so it may or may not work for you. But I hope it helps :tongue8:

Sorry, it's aloe vera juice. I use the Lily of the Desert brand. You can find it most health food stores and some grocery stores.
