salicyclic acid peels and bha/aha

Hello!

I'm just curious of anyone out there has used a salicyclic acid peel and also either a bha or aha and which they prefer? I'm thinking of trying one or the other, but wasn't sure which to go with... I have very acne-prone skin and have been using the OCM cleansing method and really like it, but was wanting to use something that will exfoliate a little more rapidly. Any thoughts?

Both types of peels are beneficial but acne-prone skin responds especially well to salicylic acid. It helps particularly with blackheads.

There is a marked difference with postpeel side effects I think. With glycolics, peeling tends to feel scaly and rough for 3-4 days. With sal, it tends to be more like sheets of skin peeling off which can be difficult if you are someone who likes to pick. You can't pick, though. If you think you would be tempted I would go with a low-level glycolic (20-30%.)

Depending on your skin, you may not have much peeling at all.
