I transitioned for 5 and a half months. I was still wearing it straight in this CUTE bob I had...then I went to California and my hair turned to straw. I came home, and that next weekend, I chopped it all off. You can see my BC in my hair album.

Thanks everyone for replying. I love seeing the differences in how long we transitioned or bc'd before we all became natural. 8)

I transitioned trimming here and there. Before the year was up I was natural.

I transitioned for almost 2 years before cutting the remaining 3 or so inches off in '03.
A wonderful mix of coils, curls, corkscrews, and kinks.

I transitioned for 5 months then got a texturizer. BIG MISTAKE. Then transitioned for another 4-5 months then did the BC. I cut major length off inbetween as I was coming from bra strap length hair. I cut it two times during my transition to get rid of some of the length.

I transitioned for about a year, and then my hairdresser unilaterally decided to chop me. I had gotten a bad intervening haircut, so something drastic had to be done. At the time I was outraged, but this is my main hairdreser of many years, and I have generally submitted to her judgment, whatever it is, but this time I was so insecure.

And then 2 weeks later, everthing fell into its (short) place, I was no longer managing the 2 textures, and I knew that of course she was right.

Iw was transitioning from texturizing, however. If I had been relaxed bone straight, I would not have ben able to transition, I'm positive. Too much work. I probably would've chopped after 3 months and then gotten braids for the next year.

I've done both. First time natural, I BC'd.

Second time, I transitioned for a year.

I've BC'd twice. If I buckle under the self-induced pressure to relax again, I'm sure I'll end up BCing again sometime in the future. My favorite part of being natural is the short phase because it's easy. Unfortunately, my big head looks better with longer hair.

I transitioned for 3 years. I would have it blown out and get the ends cut about 3 times a year. I wore my hair in a "braid-out bun" almost every single day.
