just a poll wondering how you use avg aloe vera gel?

I am a newbie just wondering about it and i am guessing this is not the sunburn kind? lol

The brand of aloe vera gel that most people seem to use is called Fruit of the Earth (FOTE). It's in a clear container and the gel is also clear. It is like 98% pure aloe. Some other brands out there aren't pure aloe and are meant more for sunburn/skin care, etc. I love FOTE. First, I usually rake a leave-in conditioner into soaking wet hair. Then, I scrunch in a curl cream ([buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]Re:coil[/buylink], Innersense QCCC, LOOB, etc.) then I scrunch in the FOTE avg. I usually scrunch quite a bit in - maybe around 2-3 good size blobs. I then plop with a flour sack towel for anywhere between 5-20 minutes. I then unplop, diffuse for a couple minutes, clip the roots, and then let air dry the rest of the way. I then bend upside down and scrunch the crunch out. The gel dries with a mild crunch, but it scrunches out VERY easily. The best thing about it is that it is like $3-4 dollars at the drugstore. You should give it a try!

The FOTE people use actually is the sunburn kind. It's sold with other aloe vera gels for that purpose. You won't find it with the hair products.

You're right, Sairis! I wasn't totally clear in my earlier post. It is used for sunburn and skincare, it's just pure aloe vera whereas some of the others have other ingredients (lidocaine, etc.). I found mine at Rite Aid drugstore and it was in the body section of the store. Thanks for clarifying!

I agree with the others! I just scrunch mine in, and like CaliforniaWavy, I use a generous helping. Whatever I feel like my hair needs that day. Always after my Giovanni leave-in.

I use Theraneem Leaf and Aloe Vera Gel. It has neem in it (a hair friendly herb). Aside from the carbomer, it's pure AV. I tytpically apply it after plopping, over conditioner or whatever styling thing is in my hair.

Thank you all for posting what kind of leave in do you use still looking for a cone free leave in. Right now I just add a blob of coco condish to my gel.

I use Giovanni Direct Leave-in. I use about a pea sized amount, which I find is plenty. I found mine at Ulta, I believe. I've also seen it at some drugstores as well.

I usually mix in the palm of my hand an equal portion of FOTE to a moisturizing leave-in and apply directly to soaking wet hair.

Some add FOTE to dry hair as a pick me up for 2nd day hair. Just smooth and scrunch into the ends. Let dry, then uncrunch. It seems to work well in drier climates.
