Someone please help. Regardless of what hair gel I use ([buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink]. KP,fantasia) my hair is always crunchy and never ever soft . I condition wash every morning with either Jessie Curl shea it isn't so, or elucence, or a humectant conditioner. I look at all the pictures in the hair albums and get sooo frustrated because ya'lls hair looks really great with great curl definition and mine - well, not so pretty. Any help would be appreciated (especially from my coworkers who have to listen to me whine and complain daily)

A lot of gels give me crunch also. [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curly-Hair-Solutions-Curl-Keeper-p-28.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curly-hair-solutions-curl-keeper]Curl keeper[/buylink] and [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]AG Recoil[/buylink] which work great for many gave me VERY dry and crunchy hair. Kinky Curly Custard can give me crunchy hair too if I use even a tad bit too much.

What is now my favorite combinatin is AC Jazz Rosemary Spritz and Aura Hypoalergenic gel. This combo leaves my hair SUPER soft. This is the only gel that doesn't give me crunch. Also, garnier fructis soft curl cream, long aid curl activator gel, and Kemi Oyl Shea Butter pomade also give me soft curls. I prefer soft curls over hold and definition b/c my curls seem to define nicely though my hair is still pretty short.

I also get crunchy hair with most gels. I'm not sure if I'm just too heavy handed when it comes to applying products or what. Anyhow, the thing that always works for me is to apply shea butter underneath whatever gel I am going to use. That way, I get the moisture of the shea butter and the hold of the gel.

its always good to use a leave in under whatever product you use. it protects and keeps the hair soft
    loose 4a, silky meets cottony
routine: co-wash, add leave in or plain water, shake & go
staples: elucence poo & conditioners, V05 & suave naturals, jessicurl too shea, AO.

I put some kemi oyl on my hair, then my leave and finally the Fantasia gel. It has been working out very well. I get the strong hold but not the cruchy curls.

This is my 3rd time being natural and the best thing that works for my combination hair (3C on top and 4A on sides and back) is to apply leave-in and glycerine under [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink]. My hair turns out soft and the curl definition is great! Try it, you'll be surprised how moisturized the glycerine makes your hair feel.

where do I buy glycerine? How do I use it? What form does it come in?

You can by glycerine from any health food store, most people on this site use
vegatable glycerine, where as I use just regular glycerine. I'm truly not sure if there's a real difference between the types of glycerines, as long as you use 100%. But, I'm too lazy to go to a health food store. I have Walgreens up the street from my house and they sale 100% Glyclerine USP in a 4 oz. bottle for about $2.99. I hope this helps.

Again, you'll be amazed how moistured your hair feels after using it and it distributes through your hair very well. (Please keep in mind a little goes a long way)

Ladies, how does your hair feel after the application. I thought my hair looked sooooo good with proline wavekeeper, but at the end of the day, it just appeared too greasy/soggy yet was dry to the touch. Almost looked like a leisure curl, but was dry to the touch. Is this normal. It was so icky in the beginning because I airdry but around noon, it was really cool. For those with hair at least ear length, how do your fare when using this on longer curl styles?

I had the crunch factor happening, too. Then I bought some [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Oyin-Handmade-Greg-Juice-p-190.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=oyin-greg-juice-nourishing-herbal-leavein]Greg juice[/buylink] by Oyin...I use it in the morning on damp hair, then apply gel and airdry-- no crunch, no white stuff, no dryness, no stickiness. The great thing is that you can never use too much of it.

Most products that "set" texture will have a crunch factor. I eliminate it 2 ways:

    1) After shampooing, spray/saturate hair with Ouidad botanical boost before apply the "gel" product. The texture is defined when dry but it's soft, not crunchy.

    2) Regardless of whether or not I do the above, after my texture is COMPLETEL dry, I rub a tiny bit of pomade (any brand you like, I currently use B&B Brilliantine) on my hands, then gather my hair into a ponytail (you can do this on more than one section if too short for one), hold it for maybe 30 seconds, and let go and fluff lightly with fingers to regain shape. This always gets rid of crunchies.
