I use ACV for shine, but I read it also removes build-up (1 or 2 ts in a bottle filled with cold water, I let it stay on my hair for a few minutes). I use honey for lightening my hair (mixing 1/2 honey, with 1/2 two conditioners) (It needs to stay long on your hair to work, I usually leave it in when I go to sleep) It's also conditioning, I read that some use it as a rinse.

I love HONEY in my condish (not co-wash) and as a final rinse, it eliminates the need for a leave in condish for me. It improves manageability and enhances wave pattern right up to the roots!

What is your honey to condish ratio? I'd love to try this!
Wurly, fine, thin, moderately to heavily porous. Mod CG.

ACV is like a weekly refresher for me - brings on shine, bounce and my hair feels "lighter".

I use a small dab of honey mixed with each handful of rinse out I put in. It makes my hair clump better and adds some shine (its hard to tell, my hair is pretty shiny anyway), -- It also has a subtle lightening affect that works well with my red highlights (FYI - i dont leave it on long; just the normal time you would leave in yer rinse out)

ACV is acidic, and closes the hair cuticle. It's important to follow a baking soda (an alkaline, which opens the cuticle) clarification with ACV.

Honey is a humectant, which helps "draw in" moisture.

    HTH!

Oh AISLIN that Avatar is just GROSS!!! :laughing6:

ratio in the summer was about 1/4-1/2 t in my condish, I stopped this in the Fall and only do a Honey rinse with about 1/2 t in 1C warm water.

I honestly think ACV rinse works best alone and Honey alone. In my humble opinion, they both have different functions and mixing them together is counter-productive. ACV is clarifying and gets rinsed out where as Honey rinses work best as a "leave in" to enhance waves and reduce frizz.

I love what apple cider vinegar can do to your hair, but just be careful not to overdo it. I went a bit nuts a while ago, and I was rinsing my hair with this stuff every other day! Stupid, I know! The results were just so awesome, I didn't want to stop. Well, after a while my hair went on strike, and it wasn't holding the curl like it used to. I had to wait weeks for it to get back to normal. It was awful!
