Conditioning question with CV poo bars

Is my hair becoming over-conditioned or dry? Before the great shampoo bar experiment, I experimented with using conditioner only and no gels. I scrunched in a little conditioner. My hair started out looking good, wavy, no frizz. After two weeks, limp and frizzy. Especially after one day of rinsing out all the conditioner and not scrunching in anything at all. I had the worst frizz ever, this was about two months ago. So other than about two really good hair days since then (one with trying out CK for the first time and second using a CV bar, homemade shea cream, and FSG) I have still been limp and frizzy.

Shortly after I started the CV bars, I stopped using anything but natural products, no synthetic preservatives etc with the thought in mind of slowly "detoxing" all the artificial out of my hair. But my hair just doesn't seem to be responding. (is it still detoxing?-a month later?)

I was also wondering if doing an ACV rinse after every shampoo bar wash was drying out my hair (as opposed to being overcondioned).

I think tomorrow I may wash with the shampoo bar once or twice then scrunch in some FSG and not use a cream or oil and no ACV rinse.

What do you all think?

BTW-My hair is limp and frizzy no matter what gel I use, GF Super Stiff or the homemade flaxseed or not using any gel at all.

My CV bars haven't arrived yet, but fwiw, I had emailed the people at CV for a recommendation on which CV bar (I have really dry hair). They told me NOT to do an ACV rinse after every wash and to limit my ACV rinses maybe to every other week or once a week because it would be too drying. HTH.

You may also have some buildup. When my hair does that it's because I have some buildup and if I do one shampoo with regular poo it takes care of it. However, I do have to go through a day or two of funky hair to get back to normal.

FWIW, I did nearly daily ACV rinses, very diluted, and it didn't dry my hair out. I get build up faster if I don't do ACV every other day or every three days or so, and if I don't I have to shampoo every week. I don't want to shampoo every week.

At least, this is what I THINK my hair likes. LOL Now I'm second guessing. Maybe what I think is buildup is funky hair from too much vinegar and I should just stick with the bars. Off to plan new experiments....

Maybe you should just try the FSG alone after washing. I find FSG to be very moisturizing, so I don't use or only use a little leave-in. I just recently started to work rinse out conditioner back into my routine-not 'cause I need it, but because I have so much of it and I like the different feels and fragrances. I never found the acv rinses drying (I do add molasses or honey to mine), but many do...so maybe start with an extremely minimal approach and add/take away one item at a time? I've been experimenting with Dairy Whip (all natural cream/solid soap), and this is only day 2 using it, but it rinses so clean, soft, no acv today...I think this stuff will be good for those who want to go the natural soap route, but could not shake the heaviness & FHS from various 'poo bars...

eta: I also like to do a baking soda wash every 2 wks or so-very drying, but I mega-moisturize after and it's like starting with a clean slate :)

CGF, how do you do your baking soda washes? I have been so afraid of over doing that I never tried it but it would be a good alternative for me to pooing for buildup. Can you list EXACTLY what you do, even for mega moisturizing? TIA!

I just take 1T baking soda per cup of warm water-sometimes add a few drops of oil...dissolve as much as possible...I usually do 2 to 3 cups for my hair, but just make it up at the sink as I go. I actually do this at my sink, not in the shower-I put the drain stopper down, dump the solution over my head, massage my scalp (I know it's drying for my hair, but if I'm clarifying, I do it all! So I just let it flow over the length). My head is upside down in the sink, more or less, and the solution remains in the sink and I sort of work it through for a few minutes. It should feel a little gritty. I would start with 1 teaspoon of BS-you definitely don't want to use too much, and if you have shorter hair, I know some people prefer to make a paste and just scrub their scalp & rinse...I rinse, and rinse, and rinse some more...then I take whatever my most moisturizing regular conditioner is (AOHR or Cocoa Pink's SoulMate-this has a water-soluble raspberry dimethicone, but is a great product- right now), and apply, work through, rinse...then I detangle, lightly towel dry, sometimes spray 100% aloe liquid on, then slather tons of coconut oil or ojon restorative trtmt on, put my hair up under a disposable shower/coloring cap, and go to sleep...I always clarify, DT, henna, etc. overnight...HTH :)

    Thanks for all the feedback.

This morning I washed one time with the Honey Butter and let it sit a little bit, rinsed out, put in some FSG with a little (probably at little too much) honey. Some light waves, and a little frizz but all my ends are visible and don't blend in. Not sure what that is all about.

I have done two baking soda rinses in the last two weeks. One bent over the side of the tub, one in the shower. It seemed like one in the shower worked better. I did use some AOHR after but rinsed it out, so maybe I will take a shower one night and let the AOHR sit overnight. Or maybe [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Too-Shea-Extra-Moisturizing-Conditioner-p-105.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-too-shea-extra-moisturizing-conditioner]Too Shea[/buylink] instead, I like it a little better.

I didn't do an ACV this am, I was thinking of doing one once a week. Or maybe a very week one twice a week. I wash my hair every other day though, so once a week is probably enough.

My hair feels a little waxy and coated today. So possibly soap build up but I also broke my all natural rule the other night and DT with Suave Coconut (I was frustrated!). I did wash with Nexxus Aloe rid over a week ago. Do you think a coco betaine shampoo might be enough to wash out soap buildup if baking soda doesn't work well?

    Always an on-going experiment.

P.S. I would be embarassed to admit how many CV soap and shampoo bars I will soon own-I went a little crazy the other day when I was ordering more. So I think those whips will have to wait. My next purchase will probably be [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink]; I haven't decided about [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]KCKT[/buylink].
