CV bars comparison....daily posts.....

I'm going to start to put down here what I do on a daily basis so I can compare (and share with y'all) what works and what doesn't. So here goes!

Yesterday 9-11-08
I decided to start over with a shampoo so I could compare it to my CV bars. So I pooed with B2B Pomegranate twice and BOY the dryness! Then I used a mix of AOHR, AOSwimmers, and [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Aloeba-Daily-Conditioner-p-104.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-aloeba-daily-conditioner]Jessicurl's Aloeba[/buylink] and left it in while I finished my shower. Then I put in a little of my MHC type 2 cream and a little AO B5 Gel. Scrunched, plopped, diffused.

My hair was pretty wavy, a little surface frizz, but felt pretty good. And no itch.

Today 9-12-08

Washed with CV Chocolate Almond soap twice. ACV rinse, 1:5 ratio. Left that in, topped with AOHR mixed with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Aloeba-Daily-Conditioner-p-104.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-aloeba-daily-conditioner]Jessicurl Aloeba[/buylink], left all that in while I finished my shower, then rinsed. A little MHC type 2 cream, a little AO B5 gel. Scrunch, plop. Haven't taken it down yet, I'll edit later on to update y'all on how the day goes.

UPDATE: I thought that the styling products made me have yucky feeling hair but when I took my hair down I figured out it was because it's still wet. I still get the sticky waxy feel when it's wet. Down it was fine, and the wave stayed pretty good. My ends were a little rough though, mostly because I need a trim but I'm putting it off since I'm growing it out.

This thread is a good idea.

Wed., Sept. 10 -- Used the CV Summer Sunshine shampoo bar. Got little to no lather, even with 2 washings. Hair felt waxy even after spending a long time rinsing, ACV rinse and conditioner. Didn't feel normal until I put in KBB Nectar as a leave-in. Not really thrilled with this bar, but will give it another chance. Hair came out fine, though.

Thurs., Sept. 11 -- best second day hair I've ever had! Almost seems like whatever that waxiness is left my hair very shiny, smooth and totally frizz-free. Hair was really pretty yesterday.

Friday, Sept. 12 -- used Chocolate Almond soap bar and I like this one SOOO much better. Had much better lather and only washed once. Hair didn't feel nearly as waxy as it did on Wednesday. After lathering once and scrubbing my scalp really well, I did an ACV rinse, left ACV in and put in KBB Nectar and left in while I finished my shower, rinsed it all out, then used the Nectar as a leave-in. Only used 1/2 as much gel as I normally do and have shiny, bouncy curls today. This bar is a keeper!

Are you wonderful ladies going to just keep adding to your original posts, instead of new posts? Because it makes it SO much easier to read!!!

I love this thread. Fabulous potential! (and I'm sure CV likes this thread, too!)

    Protein sensitive. Still looking for

This is a great idea! I've been experimenting with these bars and it will make a great log to do comparisons.

Mon, Sept 8 - used the Honey Butter Soap
    -good lather
    -hair felt waxy when rinsed
    -ACV rinse
-AOHR condition (used less than normal)
-honey mixed with Recoil as leave-in
    -LOOB for gel

It's better than average hair day. Bouncy curls that are very shiny. The residual waxy feeling doesn't seem to be affecting my hair at all.

Tues, Sept 9th - Olive & Shea Soap
-tough to get a lather going (easier to rub bar on my head)
    -waxy feeling when rinsed
    -ACV rinse
-AOHR to condition (used less than normal)
    -honey/recoil mix for leave-in
    -LOOB for gel

Another better average hair day. My hair continues to be siny and with bounce.

    Wed, Sept 10th - 2nd day hair
-used a little FOTE at night to help keep my ends moisturized
-scrunched in a little more FOTE & a dollop of Angell for hold

Great 2nd day hair. Again, more bouncy than normal. I usually have a very hard time to get 2nd day hair to be anything but 2c waves.

Thurs Sept, 11th - Avocado & Oats Soap
    -good lather
    -light waxy feeling when rinsed
    -weak ACV rinse
-AOHR (used a ton of this, my hair was really lacking moisture)
    -Honey/recoil mix
    -HEBE for gel

Hair is more wavy than curly today. I doubt it's from the HEBE b/c I normally get good curls with that. This soap might be just for my body washes.

    Fri morn (water washed)
Fri, Sept 12th evening - Castile & Calendula
-hard to lather (rubbed on head)
    -waxy feeling when rinsed
    -ACV rinse
-AOHR (had to use a lot again) Maybe this is leftover from the Avocado one?

I figured that I'd start a new post and do this weekly....I'll edit daily for a week before starting a new one. :D

    Sunday September 14th 2008
I didn't do anything to my hair yesterday; no wash, no shower, just a ponytail all day since I was off. Today I washed with the Chocolate Almond three times, then did a 1:5 vinegar rinse, no conditioner. I want to compare it to the vinegar and conditioner, and the nothing other than the bars. It's still drying though. I've had a little itching lately, but I think it's caused by other issues, so it's not got anything to do with the bars. We shall see I suppose.

UPDATE.....it felt really waxy today. Don't know if it was because I used shampoo earlier in the week or what. It was really stringy and eww. Update on update: It had to have been the shampoo; after one to two days of yuck my hair is fine.

    Monday September 15th 2008

I actually did this on Sunday eve. because we didn't have power. UGH. washed with Choc/almond 2x, no vinegar this time but used my AOHR. I can't tell you how my wave was because since I did it last night I ended up just pulling my hair up (and brushing too LOL) but it's soft and not so yucky feeling today.

    Tuesday Sept. 16th 2008

I wanted to compare my waves with what I did last, so I did EXACTLY what I did yesterday. So 2 lathers with Chocolate almond and AOHR. I won't use styling products. I didn't really feel like I needed any AOHR after the choc/almond but did it anyway in the interest of exactly duplicating yesterday. We'll see!

Update....I decided to diffuse a little and got good wave formation with NO PRODUCT and it stayed pretty much all day too. Problem was, my hair felt a bit oily from too much conditioner. GRR.

    Wednesday September 17th 2008

Today I decided to try something different. I broke out my cafe moreno bar and used it first. I had to lather three times with it since I had too much condish the day before AND I topped that with too much camellia oil that I finally got in the mail. LOL! I lathered a fourth time with Choc./Almond. I think I'll call this my Cafe Mocha mix. I wanted to see if using the more cleansing poo bar first gave me better results, like shampoo/condish, instead of greasy/waxy moisture. I finished up with ACV in a 1:5 ratio and my AO green tea rinse. It's lighter than the AOHR. So once again, we'll see....

I used my new marshmallow lemongrass bar today and loved how it felt and smelled. My hair isn't as great as it has been though...that may be because I'm trying to use up dibs and dabs of old stuff and used some gel that might not be a good partner for this routine.

3A, fine but thick, low porosity, low to medium resilience, protein sensitive but not to silk

Favorites: Anything from Curly Kinks...their system is my new holy grail. Still liking Juice Organics Orange and TJ Refresh Conditioners as all purpose co-wash and rinse outs.
