I actually saw the news stories as they aired - nobody ever said anything about her letting him brush her hair. What they said was that the guy was acting strangely, then asked if she would be willing to donate her hair to a worthy cause. When she refused, he forcibly cut off 17 inches of her hair anyway and took off.

I liken what he did to rape. He violated her in a way that she will remember for the rest of her life, and especially every time she looks in a mirror or washes her hair. She will never be able to escape it. I would feel extremely violated and be extremely upset (like on the verge of unstable, I think) if something like that happened to me. Of course, I'm also a trained kickboxer, so I doubt he would get away with it...at least not without a few broken ribs.

Thank God I have curly hair. Long hair fetishists usually go for straight/mildly wavy hair.

I wouldn't liken it to rape as such but is was definately a violation and physical assault. Poor woman. The guy must have a hair fetish. I've heard of this happening before

I would be pissed! I only get about 1/4" or less a month of growth, and if I had hair that long that was healthy, he would have gotten some real s*** from me! Also, in the video the woman says herself he took out a brush when she had turned around and when she turned back, snip snip. For some people though, it's not just having possession of the hair, it's the act itself as well. Who knows- they surely should charge him for more than just theft- that was total personal violation!

I agree I was a little disturbed that the article said he would only be charged with theft. I think it should at least qualify as armed robbery, since she had no real way of defending her hair against the scissors, but then, that is my warped hair view and not a legal opinion .

Yep, thank goodness for curls. If someone asked to brush (or even play with) my hair, I would already be running in the other direction!!!:cya:

it also said he is a SERIEL hair cutter so he's done this before. Ladies, were your hair in full shrinkage and bun it up until the crook is caught(if you live in that area). I like to think that I have a healthy hair fetish, I compliment women/men on their hair and ask about their products but thats as far as I go, nothing sexual. people are weird!

Did you all watch the video? She was actually crying and her poor hair was butchered in the back. It's very sad.
