My baby started kindergarten today.

Now it's just me and the cat, alone and lonely. Except he's trying to eat my cursor.

I'm a jaded old mom...when I sent my youngest off to school for the first time, I clicked my heels.

I completely expected to feel the same way, lord knows I've been anticipating this day for the past year, and it was a LONG summer, but I'm inexplicably a little blue.

Job, most likely. But, of course, it has to be the perfect and most flexible job in the world.

I have to be able to do it from home, and only between the hours of 9:30 and 4:30, but not all of that time and not every day, and I need to be off when the kids are off.

    Got something for me?

Spend a little time pampering yourself and enjoying the peace.
Then spend the rest of your life trying to find a job that fits those specifications! :laughing7: Oh, and make sure they need to hire 2 people and let me know.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it.....Piss on it and walk away.

If you need/want the job for your finances, that's one thing, and totally understandable.

However, my mom didn't work while I was growing up. I've talked on here about how it caused her problems as far as future employment, but I do admit part of that was due to her personality and self-esteem issues.

You could take classes if you wanted, or find a volunteer organization - most, from YWCA to different children's organizations, political organizations, environmental organizations, etc. - are grateful to have volunteers, and will let you have flexible volunteer hours. They may start you with the more simple, menial tasks - but with time would give you more interesting things to do!

But the option my mom took once I started school, which I thought was GREAT as a kid growing up, was volunteer in the classroom. I'm not aware if there are different rules now, but my mom tended to be in my classroom at least once a week, and same with my brother's. You may have to take some kind of training or something just to help these days (CPR, at least?) It's so great though, as a kid, to know if something happens during the day a parent can go get you, meet you at the hospital, whatever. And my mom was as awesome and cool as you are, so having her around the classroom was always fun, too!

NetG, that's exactly why my schedule needs to be so flexible. Some days I'm at school more than I am at home. My youngest has spent so much time in that school already, it is like a second home for him. He trotted off with nary a backward glance.

Poodlehead, to work from home, you can try www.alpineaccess.com You can pick your schedule as long as it falls between the time that you are assigned. For example, if you sign up to work Mon-Fri 9am-5pm you usually only need to commit to 5 hours per day out of that block. The pay is pretty decent but the schedule is not 100% flexible.

Or you can go to www.chacha.com and become an SMS Guide. You can work literally whenever you want, whether it's 5 minutes or 15 hours straight. The pay for this job isn't that great but it's more flexible.

You can also try www.flexjobs.com to search for all sorts of different legit work from home jobs. I have tons of websites with jobs because I have been searching for something really great for a while now.

    Hope that helps :)
