    Depending on who's doing them I'd say not at all. Most of the trouble with braids comes in when there's too much stress on the edges or in the case of these particular braids the real hair is left exposed at the ends. As long as the braider doesn't pull too tight and doesn't leave your hair out you should be okay. Also no extra tight ponytails on your part and not left in too long, I say go for it!!!
    I feel like a 3c/4a most days... More specifically an OS, dominant S, with spongy medium thickness

    I think they would be protective if the roots are not pulled tight.
