Products & How to's...

Hello!
I am a 3c (Cree Summer/Kellis), who has been natural for about 15 months. I did one big-ish chop in April and another July. Leaving me with completely natural hair. Iam on the hunt for new products! For those of you who are in the NY area, I am thinking of going to Devachaun salon for a trim and products. Anyone have any expericances? Pro or Con?

But in the mean time I would love to know that people are using to tame the curls. I'm looking for something to define the curls and minimize dryness and frizz. I would also love a product to aid in the growth of my hair. (I don't ask for much do I? )

I would also like to know how people are applying the products and styling their hair.

Thanks everyone!

Melissa

    Welcome to the site!

I think that you'll love Devachun(sp?). I haven't personally gone(I'm broke), but many of the curlies here have gone and have had great experiences. UrbanCurl and MidnightCurls are two curlies that come to mind. They already had beautiful hair before going, but they both received a great cut/style. If I had the money, I'd go. Maybe I can convince my fiance to do this for my birthday next year.

Here's the link the Urban's photo file: http://public.fotki.com/urbancurl/ Her password is urban.

    And here's Midnight's link: http://public.fotki.com/Raehlilisynth/

As for product rec's, it'll probably be easier to give them if we could see your hair. But, as far as decreasing frizz/dryness, I've found that using a good conditioner and leave in is vital. I love Elucence, which can be used as a regualr conditioner or as a leave in. For curl definition/hold, I use Fantasia IC gel w/sparklelites over my leave in, or [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]Kinky Curly Curling Custard[/buylink] over my leave in.

There really isn't a product that can make your hair grow. Good health, proper eating, taking multi-vitamins, etc.... help in promoting hair growth. Normally, the hair grows about 6 inches a year. So, if your hair grows close to this, then you're doing good.
A wonderful mix of coils, curls, corkscrews, and kinks.

I agree completely! I have to use a "leave in" before styling. I prefer CURLS Pure Essentials as my leave in. I have use, and a love a variety of products for definittion including CURLS natural lotion, Garnier Fructis Cream (cheap but good), and Paul Mitchell The Conditioner.

I haven't tried Eluence as a leave in, but I like [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/CURLS-Curl-Ecstasy-Hair-Tea-Conditioner-p-888.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curls-Curl-Ecstasy-Hair-Tea-Conditioner]Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea conditioner[/buylink] mixed with Pure Essentials. This cocktail has been a great curl definer/moisturizer.

hi... I will post a photo of my hair, as soon as I can. I'm pretty sure I have some somewhere... I almost bought the soft curl tonight... but didn't. I am going back to the pharmacy in the morning!

    Thanks for all your replies.

Try Lottabody's Tress Transitions. You can find it at Walmart or any beauty supply store. This product is good for defining and defrizzing your curls.
