A Catholic priest sent me a message.

And he is WEARING his collar in his picture...I thought maybe he was a Protestant minister who could date...but, oh no...he's Catholic.

I'll go back to waiting for that nice guy to fall out of the sky now!!!

Speaking of JDate, there's a billboard in Times Square with a picture of a baby and "PRODUCT OF JDATE" written across it! I thought that was hilarious.

The last date I went on, the guy started telling me about how in his past life he fought in the war as a German colonel. I said WWI? He says, no WWII.

So, let me get this straight. In your past life, you were a Nazi and some how you thought this was appropriate first (last) date conversation.

This is EXACTLY why I don't date.

My SIL has a profile on Plenty of Fish and she gets responses from sixty somethings and twenty somethings--she's 49. She swears she hasn't had any luck because she's overweight. I call bs. This thread illustrates that online dating is tough no matter how old you are or what you look like (real life dating isn't exactly a walk in the park either).

I get guys in their 20s emailing me all the time, I just delete them and move on. There was one that ALMOST got a response since I was shocked that someone would be so stupid to send me an email that said "hey cougar, want to get together". I was very tempted to email him back and let him know what I thought of him calling me a cougar. I contented myself with a muttered go **** yourself as I deleted his email.

    So true.

    I have some stories.

Dating is hard, period. I think online facilitates more dates, hence more availability for weird dates, but no more weird than some guys I met through friends/at school/at work, etc. I think the first contacts are always a bit nerve wrecking but some people loose their minds.

Last year, I started talking to a SUPERCUTE (Hugh Dancy lookalike) after he messaged me. I was actually kinda suspicious of his profile, since he really is adorable and it seemed like one of those fake profiles I have come across that are clearly plants.

Anyway, we started talking and he was is nice as he is cute...we become facebook friends.

We have two friends in common already, strangely enough. (Gay male acquaintances of mine.)

And then he was recently tagged in a bunch of photos from Fire Island...all posing with a bunch of equally attractive and buff young guys in bathing suits.

    Okay.

I've been saying for a long time that part of my problem is that I am around mostly gay guys. (It's my line of work.)

And then I join a dating site, and a really cute, nice guy finds me...but he seems to be gay as well...

    Seriously??????????

    Any updates?

I recently joined Ok Cupid ... but I am kind of afraid to read my messages. Here is the last guy to view my profile:

Hello my name is Robert and I am honestlly looking for a roleplay partner in my life. I am looking for a significant other to play a "mothering role" and maybe she as well can enjoy such a lifestyle. I am not looking for a dominatrix but, would like to find someone who can treat me like a baby.

gekko, I'm not supposed to comment as everyone said I can't rely on you as my fallback/rebound.

But, it would have been funny if you'd sent him a picture of yourself with an actual cougar.

I'll have stories to add here soon as I, on a whim, and clearly a moment of weakness, signed up on match.

I've already gotten some real winner emails...:sad3:

I'm going to try to be positve about it and hey, at the very least, I'm sure I'll get some good stories out of the deal!!

I thought about trying again, but somehow, I just can't do it. I'm going to take a break for a while.

I'm afraid I'm teetering on the brink of bitterness. It's an ugly place to be.

My iphone has applications where you can chat with men or women. Its kind of astounding some of the fine men you can chat with on there. Its location based so it finds people around you.

Im talking to a guy on there for about 2 weeks now, seems to have his marbles intact , so far so good. Who would have thunk it... the things my IPhone get me into lol

if you wait for them to fall out of the sky, it won't happen. you'll find yourself staring down your 50th birthday being single... trust me.

was supposed to have a second date with someone this weekend - never heard from him after i sent a thank you email for the first one. got stood up for a coffee date on Friday.

Saturday i got an email from a 61-year-old with (i kid you not) shirtless pictures on his profile that i suppose are meant to show that he's still "got it". he tries to tell me that the reason fat people are fat is because they're just "unhappy" and he can "get me happy and the weight will take care of itself" and that even though he lives 2 hours away from me, that it wouldn't be a "long-distance relationship".

    *shudder*

i should've just told him that will NOT have anything to do with men who are closer to my mother's age than mine!

    :D

it took 24 hours for him to get deleted and blocked on both PoF and my MSN - he's a jerk!

That is just....vile. I don't even have words for some of the pathetic and ridiculous emails you girls have gotten. I know these people have mommas and at least a few of them had to be raised right. What the hell happened.
