Not seeing threads as unread
I know many of us reported this back at the board change, but it's still a problem...
When you have to log back in, you lose the ability to see which threads are and aren't read. They all appear read. Totally discouraging when trying to actually keep up with the boards....

The pews never miss a sermon but that doesn't get them one step closer to Heaven.

Send me an email, please, by Friday of next week if it's still haywire.

I just had my regularly scheduled forced logout, and now all threads show as read.
When I don't log out, threads may or may not show as read after I read them- and there's not a regular pattern I can tell on if they do or not.

Please let me know if you see a difference. This new method is more server intensive, so let me know if you see any speed issues, too.

Are others having this issue? I'd like to make everyone happy on this issue, but every time I make a change, it fixes it for some people and busts for others.

Used to be if I posted something, afterwards I could hit "new posts" to get the running list of currents posts up again. And always the thread I had commented on would be right up there, because it had a new post [mine].
That doesn't happen anymore. Weird.
Maybe the database needs a goose? :dontknow:
We had this problem before, and it was fixed for a while.
The 500 posts showing up is happening again, too, even though there are only somewhere around 80 new posts since my last login yesterday. That keeps me from reading the boards on my phone, and makes me log in less often. It *was* fixed, so somewhere in the 5 weeks I've been away it was broken again.

Can we just go back to how it was prior to last August?
(Kidding. Mostly.)
It seems like it's trying to keep track of what we have and haven't read, instead of what is new since our last login. And so even if it's a new thread, if we read it, it goes away on us once we open it, causing disappearing posts. Yet we still get 500 new posts and can't just start with new posts since last visit by going to the end of the list. If I didn't read it the 10 other times I saw a thread when I came to this site, chances are I don't need it pointed out to me yet again.
