I'm looking to finally get a good curly hair cut. I was wondering if anybody here has a recommendation to a good salon/stylist in Eugene, Oregon. Thanks!

    Hi fluffy,

I was wondering the same. Right now I drive two hours to Portland to see Amie at Dirty Little Secret.

This post is a little old, but I thought I'd bump it since I was going to make a similar one.

I also live in Eugene, but I usually get my hair cut in Portland. I tried Dirty Little Secret, had a decent but not great cut (with a new stylist, can't remember her name), then went to Blu and she cut my hair for straight styling :( Finally started seeing Chai at DLS. Too bad it's 2 hours away.

Bumping because I'm once again looking for a stylist in Eugene Oregon. I love Amie who is not at Wack since Dirty Little Secret is closed but going to P-town for a haircut is too hard. Any ideas. I've heard some interesting things about Sarah at Novo but not convinced. Any recommendations? Thanks

Wanted to bump this and see if anyone has any recommendations.
I live in Georgia now and travel 2 hours to Atlanta to get a great Deva cut.
BUT it's inconvenient to say the least and I still consider Eugene my home since I lived there for 26 years. I am going to be there for two weeks in August and thought I'd get a cut there.
Has anyone tried Sara at Novo or Sonia at Mia Bella or Michele at the Hiding Place?
I got those names from the Salon Finder.

I usually get my hair cut at Willow Hair (I think it's on Willamette? I should know this...I'm really bad with street names. I just memorize stuff like "turn right at the weird-ish pine tree on the corner by the house with the orange trim". How I got through drivers ed is a mystery to me.) Anyway, I've gotten good results in the past, I'm just nervous about returning because I've started CG, and I don't know how to approach them about my not wanting to use sulfates/silicones...

I got my hair cut at Moss Hair Studio on 7th by Jesse Gaines and I have to say it's the best haircut that I have had in a long time. I used to go to Portland for Amie Zimmerman but it's quite the hike. I have been struggling to find someone in Eugene or Salem so I am thrilled to find someone in town who is patient and skilled at curly hair. My daughter's hair is next.

Any more input? I have moved home to Eugene and really need a cut.

I've met with Jesse (he says thinning shears would be good for my curls- I have been told by experts to RUN from someone who wants to use shears on my hair!) Macluan, I'd love to know more about your experience with him. I've sent you a PM.

Michelle at Hiding Place didn't impress me, and Sarah at Novo was nice but does a "C cut" which seems like it leaves lots of random length hairs in the curl which will cause frizz.

Any other ideas? Or is it off to Portland for me?

Umm, not sure about Oregon, but I used to know this fabulous chic in Georgia named Helena who got me started on CG. Now that I am obsessively in, my hair looks amazing, my product shelf is heavy, and I sure wish that girl was around occasionally to help me critique my beautiful waves.

I am sorry we can't have curly conversations in person, and I miss you guys too- and, I am SO HAPPY to be home- everything is perfect and at peace except for the curly hair stylist- and if that's my biggest problem..... I have more to be grateful to the Lord for than I can begin to count! The half has not yet been told of what He has done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Blessings to you, sweet sister,

    Helena,

I don't know that I'll take up your role at PVC, you are kinda fabulously irreplacable, though I might give the girls some suggestions if they ask (a lot of the younger girls want to know how I "curl" my hair) ;)

Anyway, I am so glad you are doing well! I moved to Thomaston around the same time you guys moved home and I hate that I didn't get to know you and Tim better, but I know there are seasons for everything. I just love you guys and can't tell you how blessed I am that you both were teaching when I went through the program in '09. You guys are great and I love that I've found you on NC.

    Keep in touch,
    Val

p.s. and to keep all our curly sisters from getting irritated with my completely off topic post, I will PM you from now on.

YES!! Kari Simons in Springfield. Kari's Hair Studio is the name. I think she also is in Eugene sometimes but I don't know where. She has a little private studio. AND she has curls!!! So she gets it. The products she uses is also a life changer!!!!!!!

Thanks for the response about Kari. How many haircuts have you had from her? And what are the products?

Hello, I'm new to these boards.

I was wondering if anyone here has had a haircut from Courtney Renata at Imagine Salon? I've heard she is good, but it would be nice to have some more information about her.

I just recently read Curly Girl, and the type of dry haircut they describe sounds like just what my hair needs. Unfortunately I'm not having much luck finding someone locally who is familiar with this method.

Any other local stylist suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know that Laurie at Salon St. Jacques cuts curly hair dry. She is super friendly. Also the only salon in town that carries DevaCurl products. I haven't gotten a cut from her yet but she seemed like she knows what she's doing. Looking forward to trying her!

P.S. She also gave me a trim at the top of my head to lighten up the top layer for free, so she's super sweet and generous.

I've had a terrible time finding someone in Eugene that is good at cutting curly hair. A few months ago I got a TERRIBLE cut and desperately needed it fixed but was scared to try a new salon/stylist. I honestly just sort of picked him at random and I'm so excited..... he fixed my curly hair!!! He was super knowledgeable about curly hair and spent a good amount of time talking to me before he started. Some how he totally transformed my hair without me loosing hardly any length. I can feel confident saying that Nick Spencer is the guy to be styling curly girls in Eugene!!

PS... they moved out to Oak Patch - I ride my bike and it was super easy to get to on the bike path. The new space is HUGE and has a really cool sort of industrial look. Love it.

Emily.Fitzhu - what salon is Nick Spencer at? Have you had more good cuts?

I'm bumping this post hopping I can get some insight about curly hair stylists that are currently in the Eugene area. I have 2/b waves. I looked up Navo Salon where Nick Spencer used to be and it says it's closed...
