I just saw the infomercial the other day and it looks good. I called to find out what the cylinder is made of and they said it's a brushed aluminum and it has a little roughness (but not a lot), which is what causes the hair to shine.
I'm curious too about it but I am waiting for my shipment for the KStyler which looked really good with the floating plates for flexibility and even heating.

I'm going to try the KStyler for the trial basis and then order the InStyler for a trial and see which one is better. At least with the Instyler you get two.
I tried looking for reviews and can't seem to find any. It's pretty brand new.

I haven't ordered yet, I did see the kstyler as well and I tried to research that one online as well, I don't know, I'm just skeptical on putting more money out on another product.

Having hideously curly red hair (frizzy!!!), I have tried it all so I was really skeptical when I saw the informercial. I've seen that stuff before. But I broke down and tried it, not expecting much, but was I surprised. It smoothed my hair and made it really shiny and no frizzies at all. What an amazing tool!!!!!!! I loved it!!!!!!!! So I would definitely recommend it if you are thinking of trying it - for curly hair, it was well worth the price because it also took about half the time to do my hair. I'm in love with it.:blob7:

Wow, so you purchased, and it worked for you, that's what my question has been, does it really smooth and straighten like the infomercial and the website advertise...did you have to do anything special when prepping to use it or did you go through your regular straigtening routine and then use the tool?

Having such curly, curly hair, I have gotten used to always putting product on it to keep it tame becuz it likes to fly-away, so it was weird not putting any product on it before using the Instyler but I wanted to do it right and it says not to use product on your hair. So I put it on the highest setting (pretty high but not as high as a flat iron, I don't think) and ran it through my hair like it shows in the instructions, and guess what - it straightened it right up. I have never seen my hair so straight. It was really weird, like someone else's hair. So... I know it's a pricey item but if it does this to my hair, I would pay almost any price. For me, it was worth it.

that happens to me too. just take a bath instead of a shower. and wrap 2 scarves around your hair at once. u could also put a bonnet, plus shower cap over the scarves for ultimate protection.
  • HollyJ911HollyJ911 Registered Users Posts: 16
omg... you know what I've been doing to keep it from kinking up in the shower? I put a plastic shower cap on then I put this old USC beany over the top and pull it really down low to absorb the moisture around my face so it won't make it to my hair. Isn't that crazy? But it works. Anyway, the INstyler has just been a god-send for my hair. I'm honestly not as scared as my hair kinking up as I used to be because I just run the instyler through it and it straightens it just fine. I just love it.

I think I just read something yesterday that said 370-375 degrees is the top end for heat before you actually change the structure of the hair shaft. (Cause damage)

I saw the infomercial for the first time the other day. I was really interested even though I don't straighten my hair. I was pretty amazed by what I saw, but wondered if it was for real so I'm happy to read a review by someone who actually owns it.

Now I'm wondering what does it cost?
I have 3A hair. I've discovered Jessicurl shampoo and Too Shea conditioner and I'm thrilled! Long-time LA Looks sport gel user.

me and my friend were watching the infomercial, and it seemed like they were not getting the roots of the girls hair. if i tried to not get the roots with my hair, itd be a poofy mess. wen u use it on the root, would u say it is easier to burn your scalp than with regular straightners?

So it does state, no product when you use it. I don't know if I'll be able to do it, I'll try it, but I feel skeptical using no product on my hair when straightening.

Mom, I am a product whore. I use several different products just to get the results I want. It's crazy. So it was really hard for me to not use product when I used this, but I'm glad I followed the instructions because it worked. There are two things I learned about this - 1: Move it through your hair slowly or you won't get the result you want. 2: Don't touch the rotating end! It will burn! And definitely read the instructions that come with it. I had to practice a bit before I finally got what I wanted, but it was worth it. I hope you have good luck also and remember - no product of any kind in your hair! That was a hard lesson for me to learn! Let me know when you try it cuz I want to know what you think.

Received it in the mail yesterday. I haven't used it yet, I don't know how I'm fighting the urge. I'm trying to wait until I know I have ample time to play. I'm willing to follow the instructions and go sans product..so we will see...

Tried it out yesterday for work, and it was really nice. It did make my styling faster, and I liked the styling. B/c of my length I didn't get as much of the bump as I wanted on the ends, but it did straighten nicely and my hair was smooth and shiny. *Confession* I did use a little product on my hair, I used some of my John Frieda Weatherworks, and I used some of my Nexxus Memory Sleek before actually blow drying. But that was it, I didn't see where it affected the instyler. So far it looks as if it's a good purchase.

All right, mom!! You go, girl!! Just keep using it - you'll like it better with practice. Like anything else, it just takes a little practice. I'm so glad you tried it!! And hey, if you used product, that's okay I"m sure - as long as it didn't affect your end results. I'm glad you liked it!!! Next time, try it without product and see what happens.....

I've been so happy with this tool for the last 2 weeks, my hair has been shiny, bouncy, it's had volume, I'm really believing this was a good investment. I appreciate your comments and input, it was enough to help me make a decision on purchasing, and it turned out to be a good buy so far.

I am so, so thrilled that you like it. Even though it works well for me, there's always a chance it won't do the same for someone else so I'm really glad you love it. I love it, too. It was a good investment, I agree!!

Okay, there's a photo of my hair without the instyler. It's long, kinky, frizzy - horrible. It looks perfectly straight afterwards with the instyler now. In fact, I had it cut last week and I really love it. I have straight hair!! Yay!!!!!!!:toothy10:

I have a considerable difference in my hair, I am having so much fun with the Instyler, it works perfectly for my hair. I wash, blow dry and use the Instyler, it works for my hair.

First pic is with flat iron (FHI) it's a good iron, but once I styled my hair with the Instyler, the flat iron collects dust, I don't need it. The last two pics are with the Instyler and of course you can see I need a touch up on my color, but I can get over that with the shine and healthy look of my hair.

Beware Of The Instyler! It Is Not Ceramic, But It Straightens Good, And The Worst : It Will Most Likely Stretch Out Your Curls And Make Them Dull! Thats What Happen To Me After I Used It For The First Time.

Mom, your hair looks gorgeous. I'm glad you're having fun with it. I threw my flat iron away after I tried this tool. I'll have to get a more recent picture so you can see the difference in my hair, too.

It's supposed to stretch out your curls - it's a straightener that you can use to do big flips and such. PJ's mom and I love it! Sorry you didn't have any luck. Maybe you should keep trying it to get the hang of it - ?

Lisa Akbari's books says its 150 degrees and after that the cuticle will start to burn.

I dont know if that is F or C so we may both be saying the same thing.

WOW, I just watched the infomercial for this product this morning. I am a sucker for any hair-related infomercial, I admit it!! Anyhow, it looked great...but reading you folks' reviews here has me convinced!! And PJsMom's pics looked really good!!

Afraid to ask how much it is but I know, I know, I know, I will buy it...sigh...I already have a maxiglide, a HAI stick, a GHD, a Babyliss, and until recently a Herstyler that I freecycled to my best bud...WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END?

    With the Instyler? Unlikely :blob4:

I have to say I think it's all in how you care for your curls after using the Instyler. My curls actually just nice or better, and I get less frizz from my curls, but of course It's the product that I use which works for my hair, and I condition, condition, condition, which whether my hair is in its curly or straightened with the Instyler, it comes out well as long as I care and style it the way that works for my hair.

PJ's Mom, how are you still liking it? Is your hair showing any damage at all? I am straightening my hair with this almost every day and I have yet to show any damage beyond normal wear and tear. But I also condition it pretty heavily. I'm still loving mine.
