Has anyone taken nursing photos?

AmnerisAmneris Posts: 15,117Registered Users
I'm getting a photographer to shoot JJ's one year pictures, and I have always wanted nursing photos of us as well, so I thought that if he gets hungry during the shoot, she could take some. I was wondering if anyone has done this - what would be a good thing for me to wear, or any ideas for cool shots?

I really want my husband to take a birds-eye picture of me nursing Solomon in the side-lying position on our bed. We have chocolate brown sheets, so I think the contrast with our pale skin will look really cool.

I bet that would look gorgeous with your red hair, too.

Webbie, I like that pic. I think it's very cute.

i have one photo of me nursing. my mom took it because i had my son in one arm and our dog had her head resting on my knee with this look on her face like "peas take dat ting back where it comed from." priceless!

i don't think i'd like a posed nursing picture. it would seem fake and staged and not like a candid shot that would capture real time.

I've taken a few with my cell phone camera --- it's more like a mommy's eye view type of thing. I just think Lucas looks so sweet when he nurses, I wanted a few shots to remember. :) I think some nursing photos could be really beautiful.

Webbie, I love that picture - awesome. :tongue5:

Yeah, it's the expression on his face that I want to remember, and that wouldn't be fake or staged.

I took Solomon for 9-month pictures today (was going to wait until a year, but DH insisted we do both... who am I to argue?) and did some nursing shots while we were there too. We did a couple different angles, and got a great shot from the side that looks very tasteful and beautiful. I ordered a print of that one, which I'll get in a couple weeks. I'll post a pic then.

I never had any done professionaly. I had one friend take a picture while we were out. I have taken a few pictures of him nursing...from my point of view.

I like having them, and I think it's probably something you will enjoy having and looking back on. You never know when they are going to stop nursing.

I just got a call from the manager of the place I got the pictures taken and was told that they aren't allowed to do nursing photos (I had called in advance yesterday to make sure...) and that she'd have to delete the ones they took and refund my order. I'm so sad because it was SUCH a good picture. Booooo :(

That's so disappointing. Could they perhaps burn them onto a disc for you instead of outright deleting them?

I asked, and she said no. "It's like they never existed." All I have to remember them by is the little, tiny, black & white, fuzzy printout of a proof sheet.

Wow, that's too bad. Hopefully you can find a different photographer for next time.

It's a national chain and against their policy, and the local store manager was really nice about it. She even said something to the effect of "It's a shame that the sickos out there have ruined it for people like you and me who use their bodies for their intended purpose".

I did call the fancy shmancy photographer who's done all of our family events - my and my sister's Bat Mitzvahs, my wedding and her first wedding, newborn pics for both of us and pregnancy pics for me..... When he did my pregnancy and newborn pics, he didn't charge a sitting fee and gave us a free 8x10 in exchange for signing a "model contract" that he could use the photos (as approved by me) for advertising. I asked if he did breastfeeding pictures and if he had any interest in doing something similar and he said yes! So I'm really excited - I'm going to meet with him next week.

    YAY!!!!!

The lady from the photo place called tonight and said that even though they're not allowed to take nursing pictures and they removed it from my order, it somehow arrived with the rest of my order! I'm so so so excited because it came out so great. I'll try to scan it this weekend so I can post it here.
