VA/DC/MD gathering, anyone???

kola626kola626 Registered Users Posts: 117
Does anyone want to do a gathering for VA curlies?? I know summer is here and we missed our gathering back in Feb. due to the snow, but I am willing to try it again and see if we can get together in the summer since its so nice out and we can show off our curls!!!! and let those straight hair girls be jealous for once..hehe !!! Let me know if your willing to do a gathering for this summer in VA?? I was thinking about Reston Town Center since everyone knows where that is. Just figured Reston TC is the only place I know around here.

Let me know what are the best dates and locations????? :blob7:

I'm down for another one(since it was cancelled), although Reston is a bit too far for me. Especially since I don't have a vehicle right now. I think the best locale would be something metro accesible for those curlies who'd prefer not driving. Maybe we could try for the same location(Cubano's) or something in Downtown, D.C.

If anyone has any inexpensive and easily accessible locations, please post here. As well as potential dates and times.

i am definitely open to trying this again. i'd prefer not to make the hike to reston, though. my preference would be to meet in d.c. or to try again with cubanos.

The restaurant is called Cubanos, and it's located down the street from the Silver Spring Metro. I actually had a map and directions in another thread from a previous gathering that we had to cancel.

I think we should aim for August.

I agree that we stick with the original location from back in Feb. What about August 16th or the 23rd? in Silver Spring.

So it seems like everyone is feeling August 16th at Cubanos in Silver Spring. Lets see if we can get some more responses and then make a firm time.

The 16th sounds good to me. But we need final numbers atleast a week before hand so that maybe someone can reserve seating. Not that it's necessary, but just to be on the safe side. So, by next Aug. 10 we need to know who's in.

thought i'd post eccentric-kurlz's info from the other thread. i'm looking forward to some empanadas :blob7:

I'd advise everyone to take a look at their menu pricing first. If it's alittle on the pricier side for you all, then we can pick another locale in the vicinity. But I have no problems with Cubanos.

    http://www.restaurant.com/microsite-...&nav=menuimage

    Here's the address:

    Cubano's
    1201 Fidler Ln.
    Corner with Ramsey
    Silver Spring, MD

SILVER SPRING METRO STATION to FIDLER LANE:
    1. Exit station using NORTH SIDE SILVER SPRING METRO STATION exit.
    2. Walk approx. 2 blocks NE on Colesville Rd.
    3. Turn left on Ramsey Ave.
    4. Walk approx. 1 block NW on Ramsey Ave.
    5. Turn right on Fidler Lane.
    6. Walk a short distance NE on Fidler Lane.

ladies, what is/are the best ethnic beauty supply stores in the area? there used to be a decent one in wheaten mall. i didn't do much hair shopping when i lived in DC, so i have no clue where to buy ethnic hair products.

i'd prefer places that are near metrorail stops. i think i can manage to get on a bus, but i'd rather not. if the place is extraordinary, i'll just make my cousin chauffeur me :thumright:

Depends on what type of products you're looking for. In DC, there's a big supply store on Pennsylvania Ave, S.E., right before you get to the Sousa Bridge, called Scotts. They have a pretty big selection of stuff in there.

Otherwise, there's an Ulta right up the street from Cubanos.

thanks for the info. i'm not looking for anything in particular, so Scotts sounds like a good place since they have a big selection.

we have ultas here in tucson, so i probably won't buy too much there. beauty supply stores that have large selections of black hair care products don't seem to exist here.
