Hello,
I twist my hair to keep away shrinkage, but when I take the twists out my hair is a little frizzy. Is there anyway to get rid of this frizz?

I appreciate everyones help:3

Sometimes I twist it without any product on it, and sometimes I twist it with a hair product I made that Honeycomb recommended. I might have altered it a bit though. :3 It contains honey, olive oil, aloe vera gel, and glycerin.

I haven't done a twist out in a couple weeks for the same reason. For everyday styling I've been fighting the frizz battle with glycerin-laden products like Fantasia Smooth and Shine Curl Activator Cream (it's a tall pink bottle with a gray squeeze point top). I just bought some pure aloe vera gel this weekend and look forward to mixing it with some other stuff.

When I do twist, I have similar issues with frizz at the ends when I take them down. i use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] + a little LIC (no particular brand, just whatever I've got next to me) and get decent results, could be better perhaps. I wonder if it's more about technique than products? Maybe I need to braid the ends or get under a hood dryer for a while. I look forward to hearing other responses on this.

hmmmm...if you're trying to achieve the look i'm thinking of you may need a heavier product...

ALSO...i find that the wetter i keep my hair, the easier to apply product and keep everything smooth. i mist, apply product, comb through and then twist. the more smooth you get each section, the less frizz!

I agree with Empressi.....you may need something heavier...I once had a great twistout with Miss Jessie's products because it was super heavy (because of the mineral oil). I don't use that product anymore and I haven't had a good twistout since. Lol!

I tried a twistout with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]Kinky-Curly Curling Custard[/buylink] the other day and I think it would have come out frizz-free had I done individual twists and not flat twists. It's just impossible for me to take down flat twists without disrupting the wave pattern.

I do find that I have to make sure that I take down my twists by simply untwisting in the opposite direction (no pulling or tugging to do the take down). as long as I used two equal sections of hair to do the twists and avoided blending the hair....the untwisting comes out pretty good with minimal frizz. as for my ends...i typically only twist 75% of the strand and do a finger coil for the end to minimize frizzy ends.

Before this website I never had a good twist out - ever, especially the ends. I had totally given up. Now that I use Qhemet's as a leave in and keep coiling/ twirling the end of the twist my ends don't frizz -remarkable. Today's twist out came out the best because a) I used a healthy amount of qhemet b) I always clip the twist at the top and bottom, c) after twisting it all I went back and smoothed the damp twist w/ more qhemet (really the lower end). Virtually no frizz ends w/ a little s-curl. And I have a lot of split ends.

I agree. I liked the shine and very little frizz from [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Pudding-p-578.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-pudding]Miss Jessies Curly Pudding[/buylink]. I used it for a bantu knot/1 strand twist out. But, Ive decided to cut mineral oil out of my life. I also loved that with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] I had no frizz whatsoever. And my definition was great. My only (and biggest) issue it was the shrinkage. I have not come to terms with my shrinkage yet and will continue to fight it, LOL. It could be that I didnt leave my twist in long enough (my hair was semi damp when I took them out). With that said, I think [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] is the best thing for definition and anti-frizz.

I see. Well, I can try purchasing something like shea butter, and try mixing it with some of my other lovable ingredients. Moreover, my twists usually come out great when I put my hair mixture on it. I just thought that maybe I did not have to put my hair mixture on it to achieve my desired look. I appreciate everyone's help. :D

Today I tried a twist-out and got a cottony mass of hair rather than defined curls. I'm angry, because I spent so much time twisting up my hair last night. :angry7: I deep conditioned with AO Jojoba&Aloe conditioner and put Giovanni direct and Fantasia gel in when I twisted them up. I guess I'm not using the right products again???

Where do you ladies get this miss jessie stuff? And isn't [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] only found on the internet?

with my hair, i notice that different combos of product yield different results. for instance, using karen's body beautiful hair milk OR myhoneychild type three hair creme with fantasia gel with sparkle lites, i get a smoother twistout. blended beauty is a whole other story

I'm one of those people that can not for any reason to a twistout the day after I twist! I get an afro! My hair has to actually SET from the twists. Meaning I have to leave the twists in for a few days. After I've left the twists in for a few days, my twist out is so defined that it can last for almost a week!

your hair sounds like mine. the ends will be dry, but the roots damp to wet, and if i take the twists out BOOF!!!!!!! it's still cute but if im going for a certain look i have to let my hair dry fully and THEN take it out. plus you create frizz when you handle damp hair.

my hair holds water terribly lol so i have to let styles stay in for at least two days.

This happens when I dont let my hair dry long enough. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes my hair a full day to dry. I use Qhemet's Heavy Cream when my hair is damp. If I can, I will put my hair in a few big twist and let it completely dry over night. Then I use Twist Out by My Honey Child. My hair is never frizzy and well defined. Even if i cant let my hair completely dry, it still comes out great and dry in the morning. This is the only product other than Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey, that when I use on damp hair is completely dry in the morning. But the CD's leaves my hair looking too shiny.. I look like Stoney Jackson:lol:
