Just a yearly bump because this is my favorite thread.

All is going well. We are getting along well and seem to have found a comfortable contact level and friendship.

She just finished her first year of teaching. She teaches at a pre-school for autistic kids. She loves it, and, as that was the focus of her degree, she is happy to be in her chosen career field.

We're spending a few days together soon, so I'll have to take some pics!

Wow...two years already. I'm glad this has worked out so well for you.

How is the relationship with your daughter and her bio-dad working out? Do they stay in regular contact? Does he have any other kids?

I'm surprised to think that it's been two years! It feels quicker/shorter.

I'm glad that people are enjoying the re-read from my shameless bump. :)

She is in contact with her bio-Dad as well. While she has many of my mannerism and traits, her emotional POV is much more like his. I'm more logic-oriented (for better and worse) that way, actually a lot like her adoptive father in some ways, so I am glad that they have a good relationship too. That way she knows someone who shares her outlook in that regard.

He just got married for the first time last year. His wife is in our age range, so I don't know how high up on the list having biological children is. Poor bio-daughter. She really wanted siblings when she met us!

She just got her own pace and is pretty stoked about that. It sees that he Mom has always been a bit over-protective, so she was happy to get out on her own.

She still like to mess with people if we are out together by asking people to "guess how we're related." It cracks me up to watch people's expressions. Since our age difference isn't all that great, people rarely guess, lol.

I still chuckle when I see that my family thinks she looks like me, and his family thinks that she looks like him.

We went to our country music festival, and all went well despite my misery in the heat, lol.

Here we are on the first day, still clean and dry and sober, lol.

Here is the morning of day 2. We had a spot storm that morning so I just used the rain to wet my hair. We were up early for the Redneck Run.

Here is the last act of day 3, Brooks and Dunn. At this point I'm so sweaty and dirty, lol. We both had plenty to drink by this point too, but it was all fun.

Here she is with her adoptive father.

It was a good (if hot) time all in all and I am glad that we got to spend some extended time together.

Luckily, she got her father's teeth. :)

We do look so much alike though, and that still amazes me, even though that's just normal genetics, lol.

Thanks, and to you and your gorgeous family as well. The Pirates miraculously beat the Astros 12-6 over the weekend. Go figure! Today they beat the Brewers 11-9.

Of course, they are still in last place 32-60 .348. I hope that one of these years we will get over .500.

ETA: We were pretty happy. I do enjoy spending time with her, and I like that we get along.

This was my first festival, and it was a bit overwhelming with the sun, heat, and thousands of drunk men throwing water on every woman around. Oh, and the hundreds of confederate flags squicked me out. Next year will be easier if we do it again.

Whoa..she looks just like you..but she does not look like she could be your daughter. You look like sisters! Awesome you and she got to meet.

    Hey..where are her curls ? :)

Well, there's only a 17 year age difference, lol, so we won't look too different. :)

I'm a 3, her bio Dad is a 1, and she is a 2a-b. So, she's a combo of her parents in that regard. I had my hair down for some of it, and she asked how I functioned with such heavy hair, lol. She would try to scrunch hers to make it curlier, but that didn't work, lol.

You two definitely look like sisters. In the 1st one I was confused who was who. The curls gave you away.:happy5: I'm very happy for both of you.

    Thanks!

We were easily the palest ones there though, lol. If there was anything I would not want to pass to a kid, it would be my skin color!! We did stick out. Strangers would comment and ask how we were related, and then they looked confused when i said she was my daughter, lol.

I got a pic with two guys in the neighboring camp because I looked super pale next to them, and it was pretty funny. I sometimes forget how pale I am until I get next to people who get a lot of sun.

He is yummy, isn't he? Too bad that beer can is blocking his Jacob Black-like abs. He had to be in his mid-twenties, but wow, he was good looking. The other guy isn't bad looking either, and he did give us some spare moonshine.

Moonshine/Yummy. I'm trying to decide here.

    A Moonshine/Yummy sandwich? :)

If it weren't for the facts of having a good boyfriend and being there with my daughter, I probably would have tried to be naughty, lol.

I also had to avoid getting her boyfriend in pics because his parents are against his going since it is an alcohol-permitting event. He's an adult and on his own, but they still push some rules on him they way some parents do with young adult kids. Those two make a nice couple. They were dating when she and I first met, and they still seem happy.

How about a yummy sandwich and wash it down with moonshine?
