First off hello to everyone. I'm a newbie to NC. I did the BC back in Nov '07 and have been looking for a shampoo and deep conditioner for some time. I was using Creme of Nature detangling shampoo and nourishing conditioner and they've been working fine. But, now I'm ready to try something else. I see so many products in Curlmart, but I'm not sure what's good and what's not. Just need some good advice from my fellow 4b people. Thanks in advance!

I'm not a good person to ask because I've been back to light sulfates. However, if I were in the market for a new non-SLS poo, I'd try one of the Blended Beauty cleansing creams or the Curls shampoo. I might also try Jessicurl gentle lather or cleansing cream. Some people like shampoo bars (like Ida's Valley).

Deep conditioner--here are some commercial products that I use as part of my deep treatment...

There's a company called Chagrin Valley that makes some very scrumptious soaps and shampoo bars. I use the soaps to shampoo because they are even more superfatted than the shampoo bars. They clean, help detangle and don't strip.

I purchase most of my products from the BSS (beauty supply store) as shipping and handling are out of control lately.

Elasta QP has a shampoo creme (can' remember the exact name) thats sulfate free and VERY similar to Creme of Nature but leaves my hair even softer (for a shampoo).

I just started using Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose Shampoo & Conditioner. I think I like it, but need to use it a couple more times to be sure. Most of the girls here seem to swear by the conditioner.

For the past couple of years I have been using Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo, and that has really worked well.

Last week, however, I went back to my castile soap shampoo that I make. And this worked really well!! It left my hair very soft, and it didn't shrink at all. What I do is put 1 part Dr. Bonners' soap (I use lavendar scented) and 2 parts water. I just keep the mixture in an old shampoo bottle and mix up more as needed.

I like the Aveda and the castile shampoo mix because they don't make my hair shrink up.

For shampoo and conditioner I like Garnier Fructis curl and shine. I also love Loreal Vive Pro nutrigloss. I water down the shampoo so I don't dry out my hair. Frequently I also mix my shampoo w/grapeseed oil. I use to use Cream of Nature but after a while it really began to dry out my hair.
