Yet another conditioner question...

What's the most natural conditioner you can think of that isn't loaded with jojoba or other "heavier" oils? Oil seems to make my hair freak out, yet I'm kind of wanting to stay as natural as possible with my products (or at least try). Any ideas?

If not natural, any other suggestions? Robert Craig was awful for some reason and has left me with frizz for 3 days since using it once! (Maybe the polyquat-7?) Can't find Activate locally, but PM's a couple people on the swap board. I have TIGI MM and Biolage.

I'm thinking my hair might need protein and wanted to try AO GBP, but I swear jojoba is in everything!!!

Poor me. Thanks for the pity party. :occasion9:

    I found this site: /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.purenuffstuff.co.uk%2Fcategory%2F4.php" class="Popup

They can make their stuff without fragrance too. I haven't ordered anything from them, yet, but, they sound like they are pretty flexible.

It looks great, but I wonder how much shipping to the US would be. Maybe we can find something similar in the US or...maybe I will actually have to start making my own. Oh goodness that could be the start of something. :blob7:

Do you have Whole Foods where you live? 365 Everyday Value!

It's not always heavy enough to use as my only conditioner, but during the summer it often is. And if your hair is freaking out from oils maybe it likes a lighter conditioner anyway. It gives more moisture than Suave Naturals but it is still very light and very clean rinsing.

It does have castor oil but that's PEG modified.

I picked up a sample the other day (actually 2). I will have to try it again. My hair was a little poofy and undefined when I used it. I was curious about the stear...(sp?0 chloride since I've read about that causing poof for some people. If I can get my hair calmed down again I will try it in a scientific way so I can judge the results more clearly. They sure have lots of scent options!

Thanks for the suggestion! I think my hair is nutso and a little too sensitive! :tongue3:

Maybe Oyin's [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Oyin-Honey-Hemp-Conditioner-p-860.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=oyin-honey-hemp-conditioner]Honey Hemp conditioner[/buylink]? I see that there's hemp oil in it but honestly, when I used it, I had no idea whatsoever that it had any oil in it -- it's quite light. Pretty humectanty-y, thanks to the honey.

Oh! And also, if Trader Joe's is near you, give Essential a try. Also light but I'm very surprised at how conditioning it is.

That looks so cool!! I'm reading about their hair detox, LOL. Hmmm...if I could stick to one product for 3-4 weeks to "let it work" it might be worth it.

Are you going to try it, kerlydoo? I didn't notice conditioners...I'm still reading to see what they recommend after the mud wash, if anything. Looks like a drop of oil or something.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing with me!

My hair must be super oil sensitive. I tried Oyin HH and it left my hair so greasy, stringy & limp. I was disappointed and amazed. :(

I live in Whole Foods land. No Trader Joe's. It sure sounds like a great store, though!

I do have an Activate on it's way to me. Maybe that will work with my hair, though I really feel called to do the extreme natural thing if I can figure it out. :glasses9:

I'm a big fan of Activate, so hopefully you'll be happy with that one! But I agree about the natural angle -- I am constantly on the hunt for conditioners with as few man-made ingredients as possible. I found this one online the other day but I'm part of the 30-day no-buying pact so I have to wait. <sigh>

HH left me limp (though not greasy). I assumed it was the humectants. Who the #*&$ knows?

I really don't understand humectants. I was playing with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]KCKT[/buylink] & CC again over the last few days. I get lots of curl the first day, then a little less and then less as the days go on, but increasing poof and frizz. ???? I'm stumped. The only thing I did differently on those days was use a little come clean the first day and not the others. I wonder if it was just the extra oil, dirt, residue or whatever was in my hair from not washing that changed the effect of the KC combo.

One thing I did do was leave in a lot more KT than I was in the past. That made a positive difference in getting curl for me (but probably also contributed to the negative effects, too). Oh, and after the 3 days my hair felt very dry and crisp.

I guess the humectants were giving my hair's moisture to the air?

I don't know the answer, either, but I do know that I get the best results with this combo ([buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]KCKT[/buylink]/[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink]) when I use the Come Clean. It's like this stuff wants a totally clean slate to work well. - :dontknow:

I don't think I'm going to use it yet. My hair is severely damaged. I'm afraid the detox part will open up the gaping wholes in my hair and it will break off and it will look like I cut my own hair with really dull scissors  Not a good look for me.

It looks really interesting though! I need to find something to wash with. Lately, when I low poo my hair feels like mushy straw and gets tangled (due to damage). Olefin sulfonate seems to be too drying for me, Giovanni SAS poo and TJ's NS.

Let me know if you'd like a sample of the GPB. I'd be happy to send you some. It's my favorite, and I didn't see jojoba on the ingredients list.

Thanks for the offer, LoloDSM. I am such a PJ, I actually bought the GPB yesterday. You are right - I was delighted to see no jojoba oil (it is in the shampoo, though).

Got my Cheryl's Herb's order of shampoos today. Haven't even opened the box, but I'm excited to try them. :blob7:
