HELP! Huge, Dull, Frizzy, Dry Curls

HoneycurlsHoneycurls Posts: 1,889Registered Users
Last night:

Suave clarifying shampoo to get out any buildup.

ACV rinse

Jessicurl TooShea and Suave Waterfall Mist Conditioner (for scent and because the TooShea was just a small sample pack.)

[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Confident-Coils-Styling-Solution-p-116.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-confident-coils-styling-solution]Jessicurl Confident Coils[/buylink] alone

Bonnet dried about 25%

Airdried 75%

A couple of spritzes of AweInspiraling Spray this morning and water to reactivate curls.

By noon, hair is huge, frizzy, dry, dull.

What to do????

I ordered the curly cocktail for 3bs. I hope this gives better results? Any reviews on that system?

Could be the mag sulfate in the Jessicurl products?

I was reading about that in another thread. And so begins the product hunt.... :eyeroll: :sigh:

Received my 3b curl and tonic last night and couldn't wait to wash the ugly out of my hair.

    Love [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curly-Hair-Solutions-Curl-Keeper-p-28.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curly-hair-solutions-curl-keeper]Curl Keeper[/buylink]--it's a keeper.
    Love Batia and Aleeza's gel.

Not so sure about Devacurl Mist-er Right. I'm scared of the oil, and the scent is a little overpowering.

Jury is still out on [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curlisto-Unruly-Paste-p-134.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curlisto-unruly-paste]Curlisto Unruly Paste[/buylink]. I'm scared of the oils and of anything called paste, but I did use a little of it.

But, my hair looks so much better today. [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curly-Hair-Solutions-Curl-Keeper-p-28.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curly-hair-solutions-curl-keeper]Curl Keeper[/buylink] and the gel really defined the curl and tamed the frizz. My hair is really damaged, I guess, and that's the primary problem. I can feel frizz even when it is sopping wet. The cuticle feels very rough.

Still looking for something that would give me softer, more relaxed curls. I don't mind a little crunch, but my hair just feels really rough--almost squeaky when you rub it. Any good curl relaxer cremes/balms out there?

I've never done an ACV rinse, although I bought ACV...just haven't gotten around to do it. So, I'm wondering...could clarifying and ACV rinsing together be harsh on your hair? Maybe it isn't, since I don't know what I'm talking about...but it might be something to consider, as well.
That's right, I said it! I wear scrunchies!!

I am a sulfate washing, cone slabbing, curly lovin' s.o.b. The CG police haven't caught me yet.

I was thinking about that last night, so I didn't do another one. My stylist cringed when I told him I was going to use ACV on my hair, but I've already established that he is not very knowledgeable about curly hair.

I did use the clarifying shampoo again last night because I had to get all that silicone serum and whatever else gunk out, but now I'm going back to my beloved Long Lovely Locks Green Tea shampoo.

Personally I would not use a clarifying shampoo with an ACV rinse. Seems too harsh to me. I have dry 3b hair also; I use a vinegar rinse and just co-wash and condition as usual. I just did one Sat. and for the whole day, my hair looked amazing. The curls were defined and soft. It looked as if I'd just gotten a perm, which was pretty funny considering how curly my hair is.
I've used clarifiers for years and had a hard time giving mine up (I used L'Occitane's Lavender Gentle Clarifying Shampoo) but I finally did - gave it to a sister of mine after I saw how much better the vinegar did the job and how good my hair looked. My scalp felt clean and not itchy at all, and my hair did not feel dull or still loaded with build up.
    Hope this helps!

Thanks. I have given up both the clarifying shampoo and the ACV. I don't even want to risk it with the ACV alone anymore. Since I started using [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]KCKT[/buylink]/[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink], I haven't had a problem with overly dry, frizzy hair.

I love the B & A gel. Yesterday, I added Paul Brown Hawaii Goo to it. The least frizz I've had in a month.
