Hi there about 2 or 3 days ago my hair was in fine condition and suddenly near the ends in some places i'm getting like little balls, as if it had got burnt by fire or something i don't know if anyone may know what it is and what i should do i've thought of cutting thes bits of but i was afraid of messing up I might go to see my hairdresser tommorrow or something.

Not sure how curly your hair is, but I get them when I air dry my hair. The strands fold and curl over and under each other as they dry until eventually I get tiny knots at the end of my hair.

Sounds like your hair is extremely dry. What products do you currently use?

I get knots on the ends of a few hairs if I don't do anything with my hair for a few days. But wetting/conditioning my hair helps them slip out.
I just want to do what I want to do when I want to do it.

Maybe you could just do a S&D on them? Are you using a satin pillow case? Do you pineapple your hair for the night? Been out in the wind? Like in a convertible? A boat or open car windows? Anything that is snapping your hair around might cause them to curl on themselves and knot.

Just saw your post.....you brush your hair. One thing I learned here was to throw away the brush with any curly hair! :-) I could see brushes snapping hair so they stretch and spring back....maybe knotting themselves when they do. Have you tried to wide tooth comb only with hair wet with conditioner? Then only finger comb (if that) once dry?

It does look like its kind of dry near the ends and a bit stretched.
I use pantene conditioner mixed with honey and olive oil.
I'll just try leaving conditioner in see if it goes away.

Do you heat style at all?

Not sure exactly what you're talking about, but I had white balls form in my hair back when I was chemically straightened and blow-dried all the time. Seeing that is actually what caused me to start researching curly hair. If you've got what I had, it's seriously damaged hair. I was literally boiling the water inside my hair shaft with my dryer.

Hmm... If you're going to put olive oil in your conditioner, don't put any more than a 2 teaspoons per 1/4 cup. Whenever I put any kind of oil in my hair, I use it sparingly. Too much and my hair starts to feel fried and dry.

On the other hand, I often use honey mixed with my conditioner and that works very well. I use about a teaspoon of honey per silver-dollar sized amount of conditioner.
I just want to do what I want to do when I want to do it.
