CurlTalk

The grass on the other side...

I was at the beach the other day with some friends and one of the girls, whom I hadn't seen in a long time, told me that my curly hair was "interesting". I said "Um, thanks, I suppose" and told her I had seen her hair wavy in some of her pics on facebook and I liked it (she wears it straight all the time). I suggested that she try keeping it wavy since it looked really good on her, IMO. She and another girl started up an argument with me about how all curly-haired girls want straight hair! I tried telling them that I love my hair the way it is and that what they were saying wasn't true for everyone. When they kept insisting that it was, I pointed them towards this site. They have no idea about this fiercely curly community you all have built here.

Wow, that was great that you not only stood up for curliness but pointed them to this site for proof that they have no idea what they're talking about!

Good for you! A lot of curlies do want straight hair though, but a lot of straighties want curly hair! LOL!

So true! My mom and sister are both straighties and my Mom has always said that she wishes she had my hair. I think she might be blind, though, as she also says she loves the way my hair looks first thing in the morning!?!?!

I am so proud of you! I find myself "eyeing" other curlies that obviously spend a lot of time and effort to fight their curls when I am out and about. I have to stop myself from running up to them and saying, "OMG, do I have a website for you! (They don't always appreciate that method...:sad8:

One thing I've learned since lurking and participating on this site is how uniquely different everyone's curl is! When my SO sees me in the morning, no matter how crazy my hair is, it is uniquely me --and he loves that! (Not to mention how fast I can shower and get ready when I need to.:toothy7:)

Thank you! =) It's because of all of you here that I have learned to love my curls and flaunt them! :)

I know just what you mean, mpgirl! I have started noticing a lot of them too. Not only that, I also look at people with curly hair and wonder if they visit this website.. :tongue5: heheheh.. A lot of curlies don't understand how unique their hair is while all straight hair seems to me to be essentially the same. I also love how I don't have to worry about blowdrying and flat-ironing my hair anymore! It's so much easier (and healthier) now and I usually can't wait to see what my hair will do tomorrow, it's a new story everyday.. ;)

rymorg2, that is so true, and a lot of people don't even think about that sometimes when saying straight hair is it! A close friend of mine keeps trying to scrunch her hair into curls with gel, etc. Only problem is, she's a 1b, so she never manages to get there no matter how hard she tries, scrunching alone doesn't do it for her.

Omg, jillipoo! I love your blog!! I am bookmarking it right now! :D
