I really need help with what to put on my hair after it's flat-ironed.As I said before,my husband doesn't want me to use Dax hair pomade because it clogged up the drains before.I'm really excited because I haven't flatironed in a year and half.I've just been putting it in one braid. What does everybody put on their after flat-ironing? Thanks for the help :D

Last few times I flat-ironed I used something called "Kemi Oyl" before and after, as needed. It comes in a small clear plastic bottle and is amber in color. I got it from a beauty supply shop, but I think they have it at some drugstores too.

I flat iron my hair on the regular. As a matter of fact, I just finished transitioning and I wore my hair "pressed" the whole time (13 months). Be sure that when you flat iron you use the lowest heat setting to straighten your hair. That way you don't burn your hair and jeopardize your curls. As far as a product, besides oils, I recommend Elasta QP Mango Butter. When I flat iron, I blow dry my hair and then put some on before I flat iron.

Now...please take the pomade and flush it. It's not best to use a pomade on hair that has been pressed. It'll be greasy and stiff. When I wear my hair straight it is has lots of body and is fluffy...but still straight. (I'll have to post some pictures). Anyhow, I recommend Elasta QP's Mango Butter or Kemi Oil. You don't need much of both. Also, if you don't know, if you wrap your hair at night, it will stay straight. Even if you have some "snap back" at the roots, just use paddle brush or similar and wrap it tight, tie it down, and you should be good.

Thanks ladies for giving me advice,I really appreciate it.As for the Kemi Oyl,can I buy it online because I don't think any of the stores near me have i
    t?
kandesnb: The Sally's around me don't carry the Elasta QP Mango Butter,so I'm unlucky in that department. Is there anything else I can try besides that? I've also never wrapped my hair before,so I don't quite know how to do it.

The last time I flat-ironed, I used Got2b serum during and after I straightened. It worked out well for me, my hair stayed for about 6 days straight till I got sick of it and washed it out.
    Coily, springy, major shrinkage!

If Sally's doesn't have the Elasta QP Mango Butter, try WalMart. That's where I always go to buy it. Also, most of the Beauty Supply stores have it too. I'm sure you have one in your area.

hey kandesnb, i understand about blowdrying on the lowest setting, but how can you flatiron on the lowest? i doubt it would do anything for me, but since you said you've been doing it, i must be wrong. but doesn't it come out poofy?

Sorry...let me rephrase that. The lowest setting that will straighten my hair. Like, as an old habit, I used to ALWAYS turn the flat iron to it's highest setting. But, my stylist told me, "If your dial goes up to 22, turn it to 11 and see if it straightens it. If it doesn't, go one notch up...." So, that's what I meant. Yeah, Natakue....if I had used the lowest setting I'd be looking crazy. LOL I was using waaaay to much heat and I was literally scorching my hair.

Thanks for having me clear that up. ;-)

When I was ironing I smoothed over my hair with the TEENIEST amount of Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade.

Don't let the price tag scare you. it'll last you at least a year.

Yes maam...Beauty Supply stores other than Sally's. I'm not sure about where you live, but here in Atlanta, there is a freakin' beauty supply store on every corner. LOL But, have you tried Wal Mart yet? That is where I always buy it from because it's cheaper buying it from WalMart than the Asian owned beauty supply stores (they're always overpriced).

So, try WalMart, if they don't have it, let me know. I ALWAYS find it there when I go. It's 3 bucks and some change. Also, a little goes a long way.
