Second Day Hair

This is a pretty lame question, but I googled it and couldnt find the answer so:
What is second day hair?
I keep hearing people talk about it...

I love Second Day hair hehe. I used to get it often but not so much anymore...

& that doesn't really contribute to the first post lol.
    3b Shoulder-length dark brown curls.
    Using
: Suave Naturals conditioners, LA Looks Curl/Sport Gel, still looking for a good deep conditioner that i can buy locally (CVS/Walmart/Target,etc). Suggestions? =)

I like to mix Suave coconut cond. with my gel and scrunch them both in, after using Suave Aloe and Waterlily to co-wash and condition. I detangle it in the shower with a wide-toothed comb. & when hair is dry, if crunchy, scrunch once again. :D

Oh god guys, I've been so lazy lately about my hair. I was going to start a thread/tutorial about it, but maybe I'll just mention it here and see if anyone has interest in seeing pictures/having me explain more.

So, say Day 1 Hair. Looks pretty good. I sleep on it pineappled or loose. It's a little frizzy Day 2, but decent. So I like to do a little messy updo that shows off the curl these days, especially since it's so hot right now I prefer to have my hair up and of my neck/back. If I think my hair could benefit from it, I do something for "prep" in the shower. If not, I just go straight for the updo, skipping the "prep" step and just claw-clipping my hair up and away in the shower.

Prep: Keep hair up and away for majority of shower. At the very end, take it down, and keep it out of the stream of water. Then, just run wet hands over and down the hair, smoothing, scrunching, and dampening it. Re-wet and run hands over as necessary, until hair is a little damp and the curl is refreshed.

Out of the shower: let air dry, until only slightly damp. Good time to get dressed, do makeup, etc.

    Messy updo time!

For the messy curly updo, I gather up my hair into a ponytail, gently twist once, flipping the pony around as if I were doing a regular bun, and then without twisting anymore bring hair around. The texture of the hair should still be visible. Then I slip in a pin or little vintage-looking fork, and I'm done! If a few curls pop out, so much the better.

Instant drama-free romantic style, on "meh" second day hair!

I rarely get second day hair. I usually sleep with my hair pineappled, and put some leave in conditioner in before bed, I found that works best. :)

I'm lucky in that I usually get 2nd and 3rd day hair. Don't do anything special at night, but I do mist with water (mostly around the bottom of my hair) and apply a small amount of gel. Works great revive my hair and neaten it up.
I have 3A hair. I've discovered Jessicurl shampoo and Too Shea conditioner and I'm thrilled! Long-time LA Looks sport gel user.

How do you pineapple your hair? my hair is to the bottom of my neck but not quite touching my shoulders.
Curl Type 3A and with a mind of its own.

Shampoo once a week with Organic Aloe Vera Herbal Shampoo.

Currently on the look out for a new DT and Styling Cream, though Curl Junkie is looking quite good.

You gather your hair on the top of your head, using a scrunchie. You hair may not be long enough to do it. I just got my hair cut, and it's barely long enough to do it now.

Pineappling can be done on shorter hair too. Mine is about a half inch above shoulder length (and shorter in the back since I am growing out an inverted bob), and I just let the shorter hair hand down when I pineapple (I bend over, gather everything I can into a ponytail on the tip top of my head, put a ponytail holder around it loosely, and stand back up. Anything that won't reach or falls out, stays out)
    botticelli-ish bob.

    Current Routine:
    -Suave Aloe & Waterlily cowash/leave-in
    -Giovanni Direct Leave-In
    -FOTE aloe vera gel

I think achieving second (and so on) day hair depends on how particular the person is about how her hair looks. My hair always looks best a few hours after washing. But I don't try to make my hair look like that every day! It depends on what is acceptable to you.

I usually wear my hair up to work, so second day hair is not a huge issue to me. But even when I wear it down everyday, I generally wash it and restyle it only every 3 or 4 days.

I consistantly get 2nd and 3rd day hair - but to be honest I think its because my hair is so darn thick.

Days 2 and 3 (moreso 3) my hair has a much looser curl, which I love. But if I want to perk it up, I scrunch in some gel (right now loving the PMRT for that).

I cant mist it like soem people do, I get frizz from that. And I cant scrunch in a leave in cause then my hair feels sticky.

I agree with Kitara. I'm not sure 2nd day hair exists for a 3b like me. Plus, it's almost touching my shoulder when dry so I can't even attempt pineappling yet. My curls NEVER get looser!!!:angry7:

I agree. I had it once but I think it was because the hair gods were on holiday or something. I don't expect that it will ever happen again.

I've only had 2nd day hair a handful of times that didn't require some sort of updo because it was just too crazy....

BUT... the other day I got FANTASTIC 2nd day hair...even the BACK was tight curls... I updated my fotki today with pics... they're in the HETT Mousse folder because that's what I'm STILL using... more and more in love with it every day! :)

Anything that won't reach or falls out, stays out)
I am amazed!! I pineappled my hair last night and had great 2nd day hair. My hair is only 7 inches long and layered throughout. I am trying to grow my hair out more. Thanks for suggesting that shorter haired people can do the pineapple, it really worked.
