why is protein sometimes bad

I can't seem to find a straight answer on this...why do some people have such a problem with protein and their hair? How do you know if protein works for you or if it's causing problems...what are the "symtoms"
3a fine hair (I think)

CoN poo and Biolage Conditioning Balm
I love CK and B&A gel...I like HETT Mousse

Your hair will get very dry & brittle:evil1: My hair is VERY protein sensitive. I don't use any daily products w/ protein and only do a protein treatment once every two weeks. My hair just loves moisture moisture moisture!!

Hair with a coarse texture already has a lot of protein in it ... so adding more protein to it can sometimes cause a dry, wicked, frizzy mess. I don't know many people with coarse hair that have a whole lot of success with protein treatments or products with a lot of protein in them.

I have pretty fine hair, maybe that is why I have never noticed a problem with products containing protein.

My hair is fine and up until recently I didn't have a protein problem, in fact, I did a monthly protein treatment. But I went with a conditioner that contains keratin and my crown started to grizzle up and my hair felt dry and crackly.

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.

Me too!! Any protein, especially wheat protein makes my hair like straw. As long as I stay away from protein & give it lots of moisture, my 3A hair gets almost a fine texture to it and becomes almost 3B. Give my hair some protein and it becomes super coarse and becomes more 2Cish.
    Mostly 3A/Some 3B Thick/Dry/Colored/SL
Loving natural products. Some of my favorites are:
MHC Scalp Cleanser, Donna Marie Miracurl Gelly, Robert Craig Conditionerloveshower.gif
