tired of my 3b curls. is there any way to loosen the curl a bit?

Lately, I'm getting tired of styling my 3b curls everyday. I go to the gym 4-5 days a week so I need to wash and style it daily. Between showering, air drying a bit and finally diffusing the process lasts about an hour and a half. Because of my frequent gym visits I also can not straighten it as often as I would like (it is more manageable when it is straight). Is there any way to loosen the curl a bit? I would LOVE waves but I know that may be a bit much to ask for. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't like pulling my hair up into a pony tail and lately it seems as though that's my most frequent styling option.

I just wanted to say that I don't have any good "loosening" tips. I have 3B, thick hair and work out regularly as well and I feel your pain. How long is your hair? Mine is above the shoulder right now (although I'm trying to grow it) and that helps w/shortening the drying and styling time. I can tell you from past experiences that you should not chemically try to loosen it. It just doesn't work. It took me years to realize that and only now, after years of trying to soften my curl and then going through the hormonal swings of pregnancy and nursing, I am finally seeing what my natural curls look like again. Don't make my mistake! Maybe a different cut? I'm sorry I don't have any good suggestions but I do know how you feel. Good luck!
3B: very thick, fine, easily weighed down by products

    Current styling products:
Biolage Gelee or BRHG on top of
KCKT as a leave in or CK when humid
or just Joiwhip alone for moderate weather conditions
