Chick Lit

I've been reading a lot of horror/supernatural books and I want a fun chick lit novel to read. Any recommendations? I liked the shopaholic series but I want to read a different book.

    I lurve chick lit!

Here are a few for you to try out.....

Savannah Blues by Mary Kay Andrews
    Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson
the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (mystery, but also chick lit and hilarious)

Any of these authors other books are fun too......Jennifer Crusie and Rachel Gibson are two of my current favorites.

Some other good authors are Jane Green (stories tend to be a tad heavier though), Jane Heller, Marian Keyes. Sophie Kinsella, who wrote the Shopaholic series you already read, has a couple of other fun ones (Undomestic Goddess and Can You Keep A Secret) but you might be burned out on her brand of humor after the others.

    Have fun! :D

Definitely check out marian keys for good quality chick lit. her best one IMO is 'The Other Side of the Story'. And her new one just out over here (don't know if it's out in the States yet) is pretty good too!

A friend just recommended Jennifer Weiner. I haven't read any by her so I can't say for sure.

I did just read Dogrun. It was pretty good, I was slightly taken aback to find it was published by MTV books. But it really hel my interest and it wasn't to "fluffy".

Thanks girls! Jabby, I read Ten Big Ones from the Stephanie Plum series and I thought it was hilarious!

Papayahead: I wanted to read In Her Shoes from Weiner, do you know if your friend read that?

RedRedRed: I'll look up Marian Keys.

Yep, my friend read 2 and I know that was one of them. I saw it in the bookstore but all the copies had the movie tie in on the cover. I have a strict rule - no movie tie ins and no Oprah stickers on my covers. I was gonna hit the library soon.

anything by meg cabot! she writes adult fiction as well as teen. i read her books in one sitting, they're that good. her new series starts with "size 12 is not fat". it's a mystery but still very funny. not to mention, i love the title. the second one in that series is "size 14 isn't fat either". i would recommend any of her books.
also just look for any of the "red dress ink" books. it's a publishing company for chick lit. on the spine of all of their books is a little red dress. i haven't read one i didn't like.

I love Marian Keyes! I started reading Last Chance Saloon first, which I loved.

On the chick Lit front, I just finished reading Dedication by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus (aka the authors of The Nanny Diaries). This was the biggest waste of an evening and $16.00 that I have ever spent. It was terrible. Ugh. I have never been so disappointed in a book before. Their last book, Citizen Girl, was bad, too. Nanny Diaries must have been a complete fluke for them. This one seemed like they had a deadline and couldn't come up with something until the VERY last minute and wrote this disaster.

I am also a fan of the supernatural and suspense stories. That being said, Marian Keys is my fave chick lit writer! I am always so excited when she come out with a new book. Very fun for summer/the beach.
