IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED!!!!

I was on vacation in Orlando this weekend, and decided to experiment with letting my hair air dry. (I won't describe the routine I used, because they are products I would never use regularly, but all I had with me.) I rarely air dry because I generally think I need to scrunch and diffuse and go through all kinds of contortions to make my hair curlier. My hair air dried into soft waves, JUST LIKE THEY"RE SHOWING IN ALL THE MAGAZINES!!! Admittedly my hair is still shorter than I want, but I was so excited that I finally have hair that is "in" without needing tons of hair tools. I was so inspired, I just bought a bunch of devacurl products, to see if they will work better for me than the stuff I have. (I still had frizz, and the products I had with me were for straightening.) We're fashionable, everbody!!!!

About time, isn't it?? So glad you got some great hair there with just air drying.

Still curious about your products, though, that you used

I am embarassed to admit that I used the hotel shampoo (I left mine in another hotel), L'oreal Colorvive conditioner for dry hair and Aveda Hang Strait as a styler. Like I said, I still had frizz, and my hair got bigger and bigger as the day progressed, but the overall wavieness was nice. I especially liked having no crunch in my hair, which is my usual problem with my curly products.

I've had good luck with adding a drop of honey to my gel (Tizz No Frizz mixed with Aussie Mega Gel). I put it in wet hair then scrunch with microfiber towel. It dries crunchy, but once the crunch is scrunched, I get nice clumpy waves/curls that last all day without needing hairspray. You have to be careful though, too much honey and you've got sticky hair

Do you like the aussie mega gel better than dual personality gel+water?

Just wondering, I've thought about trying it. I think I have PJ problems.
My hair is a mix of 2b/3a and even a bit of 3b thrown in! I would call my hair wavycelli. It curls most when I leave it alone after wet scrunching. My hair has a spring factor of about 2 or 3 inches and has a very silky, medium texture.

Dancingbadger, I think you'd have a lot of company in PJ rehab (including me!) I do like the Mega Gel a little better than Gel+Water, it seems to have a little more hold. I don't really like the Mega Gel by itself (a little too crunchy) but with the Tizz No Frizz (1/2 and 1/2) and honey(one or two pea sized drops) it is rapidly becoming a HG for me. Also, the Mega Gel has the grape bubblegum smell I like!

It's a weird thing with me and air drying. My hair always feels better, but usually looks like a frizzball. I have a big trial next week, but as soon as that's done, I'll start experimenting more.
