Medsmex - Have they secured their site?

I noticed that they now advertise their security. That wasn't there before, was it?

I don't know about that, but I just placed an order with them this weekend (using my shop safe card number:wink:), and got a shipping notice email which didn't happen last time, and the charge was $10.00 instead of the $12.00 charge previously. So maybe they did make some changes for the better. All I know is, I want me my retin-a!!!

I used them last month and they didn't rob me.

I noticed the same thing the last time I visited their site and was hoping they were getting their ducks in a row. I'll probably order from them the next time I need retin-a/meds.

I ordered a few days ago, and the charge just went through for the correct amount. I had gotten the sense from previous posts that some forumites had problems with them and thought it might be a risk, but I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best - and Renova, LOL. Things seem to be going right so far, knock wood.

Out of curiosity, what was the brouhaha before?

I ordered from them in Sept. using a credit card that I had NEVER used online (or anywhere else for that matter) and all of a sudden $1200 in fraudulent charges appeared on my account. G-Stringgranny and several others had the same problem.

I looked at their site last night and it had the "VeriSign" logo...or whatever that thing is!

I just wanted to report back that my Medsmex package was waiting for me at the post office yesterday-less than 2 weeks, which is a significant improvement to the month it took last time--and $2.00 cheaper shipping at that. I'm glad I ordered from them again, but also glad I protect myself as well now...

I've never purchased from them before, but today noticed their site was temporarily down. I would consider possibly getting Retin A from them, but there are other sources for that. The security issues bother me, so are good to know about. I might wait until much later in the year to place an order, so all the bugs can be cleared out!

    Hi,
I ordered from Medsmex on a couple of occasions without any problems, but about a month after my order in January my Visa card company called me wondering if we were making charges to Match.com.
The answer was NO, but someone was. Since I only use this card very infrequently, I know the problem probably came from Medsmex.
I saw someone talked about using a Shop Safe Card. Is there a card that has some safeguards built in for online shopping?
Also, has anyone ordered from them recently? It took about 3 weeks before to receive my orders.
    Thanks

So sorry you almost had some trouble. I mentioned Shop Safe-most banks offer something similar. I can basically create temporary card numbers with 1 or 2 months expiration for the exact amount of the purchase that will draw on my MasterCard. You can create any limits and expiration dates, and also set up for monthly payments for the same vendor if you wish. Noone but the first party that accepts your payment can use that number, and the limits offer extended security. I do alot (translated: too much) online purchasing, and if I can't use PayPal, I do it this way. I think it's a fairly safe option. I think I posted above that I received my Medsmex delivery in about 2 weeks, but my first one took almost 5! Good luck if you decide to order again. I only get the retin-a, and I do 2 tubes at a time to limit shipping charges...

    No they haven't

I have had several fraudulent international transactions on my card in the past week and a half that I just found out about.

Ack! It was to a porn site no less!

I got my money refunded, but that is such a crappy feeling when you look at your bank account and the statement looks like that.

I was so hoping I could order Retin-A from them again. I ended up changing banks & went with another internet carrier. I'm not about to go thru that again. Where else can I get Retin-A?

not as cheap as medsmex, but way better than here. I've gotten my order in 10 days each time I've ordered from them, which I don't think is bad. I believe they're in the UK.

Good to know, ladies. I was getting ready to place an order for Retin A. I think I'll wait awhile or use the site from VTmom.

I have had several fraudulent international transactions on my card in the past week and a half that I just found out about.

Yeah, me too. It took almost three months, but then I found fraudulent charges to dating sites (Match, Lavalife, etc.) originating outside the US. This was the only international order I'd made on that card in over a year so it was easy to narrow down. I was very lucky and had happened to check my account online the day they started going through, so I canceled the card immediately and in the end only had to deal with a couple of charges.

Since it's taking so long to happen, I wonder if the issue is that they don't secure hard-copy records of transactions and financial information, rather than have an unsecure site. If they have larcenous employees, or even simply don't shred info before it goes into a dumpster, that could be an explanation for what's going on and how the information is getting "out there" so long after the initial valid transactions. Usually if it's the result of an unsecure site the fraud starts pretty quickly - hackers don't really wait weeks and months for nothing.

It's just a thought, though, and it actually makes me even more pissed off to think that they might also be leaving medical records as well as financial ones unsecured, since this is a pharmacy. I definitely won't buy from them again and would recommend against anyone else buying from them, too.

I noticed a charge on my credit card to www.segpayeu.com

So I called them (1-800-990-6276) and it turns out that they are a third party billing service for which my credit card number was being used to pay for a dating website. Everything being used was the same except for the e-mail address.

So I explained everything to them and they cancelled the membership that was associated with my credit card. They are going to refund the money and also place my credit card number on a negative list so that it can't be used again through their service.

Hope that helps anyone else who had these issues.
