You can just scrunch it out with your hands. It is really important to make sure it is DRY before you start scrunching though, otherwise you'll make a mess of your curls.
I often use a product to scrunch out the crunch if my hair is really crunchy ... IMO the best product out there is JCS N&S (Jane Carter Solution Nourish & Shine). It melts the crunch, provides some hold and leaves your hair soft and shiney ... and it is CG.
Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!

FrizzBgone, I notice that you and mysteryflavored use N&S to scrunch out the crunch, so now I am curious about it, especially because shine always eludes me, no matter what I use.

I think you and she both have pretty thick hair, so I'm wondering whether a fine-haired 3a like me could use this same scrunching technique without having the product add weight to my hair. What do you think? What's been your experience with it?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, somehow I missed the e-mail notification on this one ...

Although my hair is really thick, the hair itself is quite fine, so I do have to watch that I don't get weighed down. It is a bit of a dance for me, because my hair is fine, but I have so much of it that I still need a lot of product.

I think you could still use the N&S. I don't find it as heavy as some pommades. I has the consistency of butter that is just started to melt (if that makes sense ... hair and food are always my comparators ) When you rub it in your hands, it emulsifies, so that it looks like you've got butter on your hands. Because it melts so easily, I think it gives you more control of how much you use. You use use a little and still spread it in your hands easily.

It really is a great product. The upside to it is that it is also great for your hands. I have a real problem in the winter with getting really dry cuticles ... my thumbs are the worst. I now put some N&S on them before I go to bed and it has made a huge difference.

If you decide to buy it, let me know if it works for you :)

I use Set It Free. I spray a few pumps in my hands then scrunch my hair. I tried a creme pomade but it didn't compare to SIF.

You can get it at Curlmart.
    /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.curlmart.com%2FThe-Jane-Carter-Solution-Nourish--Shine-p-175.html" class="Popup

It is cheaper at beautyofnewyork though

Also .... check your health food stores or vitamin shoppe I've heard of some curlies getting it there.
I think you can order it right from Jane Carter Solution website .. they may also tell you where it is sold locally.

Unfortunately the only way I can get it is on line. I know that it seems a little pricey for 4oz, but it will last you a long time. You need next to nothing.

I have to co wash my hair in the evening if I have ANY hopes of getting out the door on time in the morning. Afterwards I apply my product(s) and wait for it to be around 80% dry. At this point my hair is normally nice and CRUNCHY. I sleep on a satin pillow case and when I wake up the crunch is gone. Whenever I attempt to fix my hair in the morning I usually have to work the two handed scrunching routine. My DH tells me that I am an active sleeper (toss/turn/wonder if I set the coffee pot on delay/think about Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing) so that may be part of it. For right now I am digging crunchy hair at night. Works for me :tongue5:

Hmmmm. I like the sound of that routine! How long is your hair? And does it look as fresh in the morning as if you'd just (co)washed it?

jillipoo did the nourish&shine work for you? I was curious as I also have the fine hair.

xcptnl I think you could use it. I love it. Just use a small amount rubbed well into palms first and then lightly run over your hair in a quick motion as if you were going to pull it into a ponytail. I started to used it after mysteryflavored recommended it and its awesome for shine and keeps everything looking good. You're not in pj'ism recovery are you?:laughing7: I wouldn't want to make you relapse.

It's going to be another four days before it gets here. You cannot begin to imagine the agony -- I'm waiting for that, Mop-C curl defining/enhancing/whatever creme, Shea Moisture Leave-in, and also some lip gloss. I may die from anticipation.

But I will definitely report on my findings once it arrives and I give it a whirl.

Doesn't that motion disturb your curls? (It would mine, I'm guessing.) I think mysteryflavored uses it to scrunch out the crunch. Do you ever use it that way? That's how I was planning on using it....

xcptnl- you are too funny! you made me laugh

jillipoo that's how I decrunch, one really quick sweep from forehead to the back of the neck and all decrunched and no distrubance of curls. I think every curly has her own way for scrunching out the crunch. Try it, just make sure you aren't going anywhere incase it does mess up your curls.

darn these boards!! My pj-ism was bad enough when I wandered around of my own accord, but now that I have found "my own kind" it just makes things worse!

I was going to be so good and not get this, because I didn't want to pay shipping. Then I found out there is a Vitamin Shoppe by me...

My self control has gone to hell in a handbasket :angel9:
