Senior citizens and the tax rebate

There is a thread about taxes in the nonhair general discussion area. This got me to thinking maybe I should post this so everyone is aware and can make their elderly parents aware. My husband does volunteer taxes for low income and senior citizens. This is something they are stressing:

Senior citizens were not originally included to get the tax rebate (economic stimulus package). This has been changed and they now are, BUT they have to file a return to get on the books to get the rebate. Many senior citizens don't have income and don't normally have to file. This year they MUST file a return to get the rebate. So if you have an elderly parent, grandparent, neighbor, etc., who doesn't usually file, please tell them they must this year!!
