Fantasia IC hair booger balls????

momo7momo7 Registered Users Posts: 478
Okay, I know the title sounds gross:pukel:, but when I used Fantasia gel on my hair back when I used to blow dry (over 2 yrs ago), I got zillions of little white beady balls all throughout my hair. Maybe the blow drying had something to do with it.
Has this ever happened to anyone who used the gel for the regular curly styles? I wear my hair out sometimes and I want to wear it out more often. I've heard alot of great things about this gel and its consistency. :toothy8: I just don't want to be outside with booger balls in my head!! Maybe I'll experiment 2nite...please chime in b4 my journey :):blob8:

Hair booger balls? LOL! I've never heard it called that before, but I know what you're talking about.

You're likely using a leave in that doesn't mix well when used under the gel. I've been able to use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Elucence-Moisture-Balancing-Conditioner-p-39.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=elucence-elucence-moisture-balancing-conditioner]Elucence MBC[/buylink] and PM The conditioner underneath this gel without any...ahem, "booger balls". hehee.

Try using a different leave in and see what happens.
A wonderful mix of coils, curls, corkscrews, and kinks.

i love this gel....and in my experience....it does not mix well with any type of butters or oil.

i use giovanni direct leave in which mixes well with this gel. i also cut it a little bit with water in my hands because its a pretty thick gel and a little goes a long way. good luck!

Thank you very much EK for your response. I've wanted to try Elucence for years now, but I don't like ordering hair products online. I've been contemplating purchasing PM The Conditioner, but I was afraid of the alcohol content, especially since it's so high on the list of ingredients:

    Ingredients
Water Aqua , Cetyl Alcohol , Stearyl Alcohol , etc

Do you find this leave in to be as moisturizing as you find it cooperating with the Fantasia gel? :confused2:

Thank you very much for your response MM. I've also been contemplating using this leave in but found that it contains alcohol also. However, the alcohol is mentioned near the end of the ingredient list. Maybe that makes it less harmful? I dunno :confused2:

Those [alcohols] are emollients. Not all alcohols are bad. You want to generally stay away from alcohol denat and SD alcohol, as they can be drying to the hair.

I actually prefer using this leave with this gel over other leave ins. I also have to agree w/ Missmonie that Giovanni Direct Leave in works well under Fantasia too.

Thank you very much for clearing that up EK. Thankfully, it mentions none of the drying alcohols. I need to get my hands on one of these ASAP. :blob8:

Those alcohols in Giovanni and PM seem to be the good alcohols.:happy11:

The cashier checking me out at Target this weekend has a bad case of 'hair booger balls'. I never would have called them that, but it was certainly a good description for the way this girl's hair looked. yucky!

That is extremely embarassing. The thing is, I wonder if she knew! Someone was in a seat in front of mine (face forward seats) on the bus and her hair looked SOOO nice but she had alot of "double b's". I didn't know if I should tell her or not, b/c I usually appreciate honesty when it comes to stuff like that, but some people are different so I didn't say anything. :blackeye:

I purchased the PM The Conditioner leave in. Is it supposed to be sealed under the cap or not (b/c mine wasn't)? Also, is it supposed to be a bluish color? I just wanna make sure nobody put blue Kool Aid in it (j/k :confused2::smurf:)...but seriously, is it supposed to be blue?

    It smells SOOOO good!!!

That's the product. It kinda reminds of me(smell-wise) of blue magic hair grease. LOL! And it is a light-ish blue.

i like the clear one. I've also tried the green one, but the clear one is heavier and has more hold.

I've used both the clear and blue, and the blue is much thicker and gives a chunkier finish than the clear. I get stringier curls with the clear, and a firmer hold. With the blue, less is needed because of it being so thick, but it doesn't have as firm a hold as the clear.

So if you want a firmer hold, go with the clear. A chunkier finish, with less hold, go with the blue. But remember I'm basing this off of my individual results, and I'm sure for every person that had the same results as myself, someone else will have experienced something different.

Yea, I get stringier curls with the clear and chunkier with the blue (hair was rough when I used this the other day). :glasses9: Here's the problem I had 2day...I applied the clear gel to clean damp hair last night (little gel to each section) over PM the conditioner (very little...dime size to each 4 sections...that conditioner is cool :)). I even used a little spray water bottle so I wouldn't use too much product. I did a pre test to see how it would look in the morning and I liked it alot. So, I pulled it all back into a ponytail, wrapped it and slept.
When I woke up this morning and took out my ponytail, some of my hair was stiff, and the rest was damp wispy and stringy fine curly fro like (can't wait til my hair grows back..darn it) everywhere else :evil1:. I couldn't even wear my hair down today. I woulda used my spray bottle to loosen the stiffness but I woulda got some MAJOR shrinkage. I wore a hat all day and hours ago (tonight) I was able to let it go wild. It was bouncy and everything. I just wish I coulda wore it that way this morning. When I used to use the smooth n shine curl activator gel I never had that problem, but it was TOO greasy and gloopy like a jheri curl and my hair would sweat out fast (always needed a headband)!
This Fantasia hasn't flaked on me yet like some smooth n shine products which is good. I have faith in this product I just need to learn how to use it.
:homework:I need to learn how to prepare my hair @ night so that I can wear it down in the morning. HELP PEOPLE PLEASE!

    Eccentric_Kurlz:

Update....PM The Conditioner has been working quite well with the Fantasia IC (thank you!!). ZERO FLAKING with that combo, how cool is that. The bottle will probably completely run out in a couple of months. I'm going to order the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Elucence-Moisture-Balancing-Conditioner-p-39.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=elucence-elucence-moisture-balancing-conditioner]Elucence MBC[/buylink] today. I'll see eventually which one I like better. It's always good to have a backup product in case something runs out or is discontinued (God forbid!!!) :glasses9:

Okay, I tried the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Elucence-Moisture-Balancing-Conditioner-p-39.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=elucence-elucence-moisture-balancing-conditioner]Elucence MBC[/buylink] with the Fantasia and it didn't work! :( I got the booger balls!! :puker: The PM Conditioner that I thought would last a couple more months has run out (gave away). Now I'm kinda stuck. I'd purchase another one, but I need something with ALOT of moisture to put underneath my gel that will mix well w/o creating those booger balls again. I'll probably try only rinsing out 25% of the VO5 next time I co-wash to see if that works. It's only a buck and change so I won't feel guilty if I waste a little.

shea moisture leave in mixes REALLY well with this gel. absolutely no boogers! which is weird actually b/c it's a cream and this gel definately does not like creams!!
