advertisements posing as threads?

I have a question about this thread.

The OP's post count was only 3 and it struck me as a sales pitch, so I flagged it. Then Munchy posted a laughing smiley at it [I think because it was so over the top sales oriented]. Then I posted to the thread about how I had flagged it and why.

Later I saw that that OP had responded so I clicked on it. Well, lo and behold, my and Munchy's replies were gone. The original post had an 'edited' note below it from a few minutes earlier, but there were no obvious changes to it. And most strangely of all, the OP's post count was now 1.

I then noticed that this was on the forum "Curl Mart News."

To the owners of this site: Is this a new form of advertising with the new board? I really would like to know.

ETA: I checked around for other threads with the same title, to see if that could explain some of the confusion, but didn't find any.

Well, now it appears to be gone. I guess it was spam?

Weird how it deleted our posts and changed the post count, though.

Yes, that was product promotion -- though at least it was a curly product and not drugs or porn!

I deleted it, and that deleted your posts as well. Sorry about that.
