cg-ers who use garnier fructis regularly...

...have you ever experienced build up from the "fruit waxes"? I just got this sweet spray gel (because my other lover, suave healthy curls spray gel, got discontinued :disgust:) by garnier and i like it, but I don't want to become dependent on it if its going to build up. I also got a free sample of the 3-minute mask conditioner, which is AWESOME, its like a nice smelling version of one c, in my opinion (but i like the smell of garnier, and some people don't) but it has the waxes in it as well, and i'm thinking of repurchasing. ANYWAYS, please let me know if you experienced any wax build ups. THANKS!!

hi! i had been using the garnier fructis soft curl cream. i loved it because it gave me beautiful, soft ringlets with little to no crunch at all. i experienced a little bit of build up, but not that bad. i only felt inclined to shampoo once every 2 weeks or so. no greasy or oily look, just a little dull. i stopped about a week ago to try using gels and mousse's that are silicone free (the soft curl has one cone). i'm not crazy about anything else so far. i think i will switch back to the GF because i loved the way it made my hair look and find a way to remove build up...

    HTH!! good luck :)

After who knows how long using GF Soft Curl Creme, definitely 3 jars worth, I gave this up. It got to the point where it was leaving my hair dull & fuzzy looking with a waxy feeling & look to it.

And though I can't remember how the leave-in made my hair look & feel I just didn't like it for some reason. I don't care much for their rinse-out conditioners either, though I also can't remember why. And I don't use their shampoo anymore. I've since gone low to no sulfate. I haven't tried any of their other hair products.

Their curl & shine conditioner has a cone as the 3rd ingredient--so I don't think it is good for CGs.
Aqua Water , Cetearyl Alcohol , Amodimethicone , Potato Starch Modified , Behentrimonium Chloride , Pyrus Malus Apple Fruit Extract , Parfum Fragrance , Cetyl Esters , Methylparaben , Lauryl PEG/PPG-18/18 Methicone , Persea Gratissima Avocado Oil , Trideceth-6 , Niacinamide , Pyridoxine HCL , Citric Acid, Prunus Armeniaca Apricot Kernel Oil , Saccharum Officinarum Sugar Cane Extract , Cetrimonium Chloride , Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride , Poloxamer 407 , Dodecene , Linalool , Butylphenyl Methylpropional , Dimethyl Tin Dineodecyl Ester , Citrus Limonum Lemon Peel Extract , Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract.

Don't forget about this one too.

A lot of curlies find the A-cone very easy to wash out with just water or conditioner without buildup, so it works for a lot of CGs. The Methicone has PEG/PPG in front of it, so it should be water soluble (I think).

ETA: The only product I use from this line is the Curl & Shine Leave-In.

For me, the buildup was immediate with this product line. I don't think that I lasted more than a month when I tried GF a few years ago.

It never used to build up on my hair. But something changed because with just a few uses of the last jar of SCC I noticed it not being nice to my hair any more.

My hair always felt 'producty' with the leave in and the curl cream. I now am wondering if it was the fruit waxes.

i couldn't use the curl cream either, and i stopped because it has dimethicone in it. The mask only has the a-cone, and the spray gel is cg...so i think i'm going to keep using them. i really like the spray gel so hopefully those waxes don't build up!

I don't have anything else containing fruit waxes to compare it to so that's what I am going to guess was the problem until someone tells me otherwise. :dontknow:

i don't use any of the waxy prods from GF, just the rinseout CO's as leaveins and i have no problem with it. when i am swimming i use it daily. i like it a lot. i switch between length and strength, curl and shine, sleek and shine, dry and damaged. they all work about the same. i did not like the leaveins or soft curl crm. my DH uses the styling mousse.

sorry, what's the name of the Fructis spray gel you're using? I'd be interested in trying it...

Its called Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray Gel. Its new, i got mine at wal-mart for $3.23, plus it came with a sample of deep conditioner. I'm really liking it, and so far i don't think i've experienced any wax build up, but maybe thats because i put it on over other products? Not sure, but i'll keep an eye out for any build up just in case.
