What do you guys think of Silicones?

I read up on them at http://healthycurls.awardspace.com/index.htmlOne of my fav products (Redkin anti-snap) has dimethicone in it. That is the only one in there, but is that all you need to do some damage (prevent mosture/require harsh shampoos). Miss Jessie's [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Pudding-p-578.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-pudding]curly pudding[/buylink] and biolage curl cream have that one silicone as well. Please tell me it's harmless. Thanks

Water solubles in small quantities (way down the ingredients list) seem to be okay with my hair. Wen, my favorite conditioner & cleanser, has amodimethicone and I never experience build-up. Other than that, don't think I use any other product with a cone. Too many and they dry out my hair and cause build up.

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.
Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.

I try to avoid 'em. I used them when I was relaxed, and they built up quickly on my hair and made it feel waxy and coated. I started on the Curly Girl routine not long after I made that discovery (yes, I was a relaxed Curly Girl!). I haven't bothered using products with 'cones since I went natural. My hair seems to do fine without them. My Fantasia Gel has a water-soluble 'cone, though.

I would only use them if I planned to straighten/press my hair. Silicones are great for protecting hair from heat damage.
