Wen by Chaz Dean

Has anyone tried this product? I saw an infomercial about it last week and now I see that it is in the Curl Mart. It's supposed to be a cleansing conditioner- i guess sort of like no-poo.

Any thoughts?

I love the Sweet Almond Mint, it's my main cleanser and conditioner. When I'm not using it, I use a cheapie (VO5 Strawberries & Cream or Suave Toasted Vanilla). The Wen I like because I don't have to condition, the cleansing cycle conditions too.

I like the Wen cleansing conditioners...they are like a co-wash but it's a one step cleansing and conditioning process. They recommend that you use huge amounts of the product though....I've found that it's not really necessary for me to use the amounts they suggest which makes it much more affordable.

I've also used their styling cream which is nice but not CG....it doesn't seem to build up and I'm not sure why that is since the cleansing conditioner doesn't contain any real detergent type ingredients. I use it only occasionally since it's not CG and I pretty much am :)

Favorites: Anything from Curly Kinks...their system is my new holy grail. Still liking Juice Organics Orange and TJ Refresh Conditioners as all purpose co-wash and rinse outs.

I've been wondering the exact same thing...if this system is good for curly hair. I don't have the CG book, and am still struggling with 'cones' and such...but I thought that it may work for curly hair, since it's like co-washing.

I got my Wen products this weekend and I tried it on Saturday and I LOVE it! My hair is soooooo much softer and manageable! I ordered the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Wen-Sweet-Almond-Mint-Cleansing-Conditioner-p-595.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=wen-by-chaz-dean-sweet-almond-mint-cleansing-conditioner]Sweet Almond Mint cleansing conditioner[/buylink] and it feels and smells very good.

One thing I will note: They say that you should use a few squirts as a leave in but make sure that it plays well with your other styling products first or you'll end up with a bit of a mess. The same goes with any cloudy conditioner product, they don't mix well with jell and such.

Never tried as a leave-in, but I notice it actually thickens if you add water to it and shake.

In the Conditioner Chronicles, the poster gives extremely low marks to Wen, especially for moisturizing. Everyone's locks are different, I know, so this is just FYI.

Personally I would never use them because ingredients like menthol, mint, etc., do nothing but cause irritation -- the "tingle" you get is actually your skin burning up and screaming for mercy. It ought to be illegal to include these ingredients in hair and skin products, really, and Chaz Dean ought to know better -- they are awful for you. I have a feeling Wen is one of those products that will work for a while and then leave you disappointed.

But as with all things curly, YMMV. Just a warning to others considering these. Once I saw those ingredients I said nuh uh, no way.
Modified CG. You'll pry my 'cones from my cold dead fingers! Mixed waves, coarse, below shoulder length, dark brown. I hate my hair  but I'm trying to learn to accept it.

Gels: LA Looks Wet Look Styling Gel, Garnier Fructis Wet Shine Gel. Condish: Alberto V05 Free Me Fresia, Tresemme' Flawless Curls, LVPNG, Neutrogena Triple Moisture. Shampoo: Tresemme' Flawless Curls. Silicone Serum: Whatever is on sale, but I don't leave home without it.
