Does Deva cut enhance curl?

I am going to make an appointment with Rachel from Beauty Lounge in Akron, Ohio.

I have been shampoo free for 10 daysicon14.gif and this will be my first Deva cut. Hopefully this will be the first one I acutally like! I have 3A hair that is halfway down my back and very thick.

Will a Deva cut enhance the curl? I would love it if it does. Does anyone have first hand experience with Rachel? Also, what is an average cost of a Deva cut? I have spent thousands on bad cuts, so I am willing to pay.

Thanks:toothy8:

I got a great Deva cut in Houston in September and it really helped with shaping up my hair. It didn't really "enhance" the curl, but it did help define the individual curls. I think that's what the dry cut helps with.

I've enjoyed it and would recommend a Deva cut to any curly out there.
Hair type 3A. Jessicurl is becoming my HG!

A Deva cut will help to release the weight on your hair so that what curl you do have is enhanced to its fullest potential. A lot of people say their hair "seems curlier" after a Deva cut, but that's only because unwanted weight has been removed ... it won't add any curl you don't already have hiding in there.

The cost for a Deva cut depends on where you go and where you are located. At Devachan, they start at $85 for a junior stylist.

Thanks so much for the replies.

I think there probably is a lot of curl hiding under the weight of my hair. It is very, very thick and heavy, so I am eager to see what a Deva cut will do.

How often do you need a trim with a Deva cut?

That depends on your hair. Some people only get it cut once a year, some go every three months or so ... but I'd say every 4-6 months is the average. My hair grows pretty fast and I usually have it cut every 4-5 months.
