What are the best oils for hair and scalp?

I'd like to try a natural oil routine but I'm a little stumped on what oils are best for the scalp. I have a dry irritated scalp. I read the jojoba oil and rosemary oils are good. Has anyone ever used emu oil for their scalp, or know if it's a good idea? Also, how would I apply the oils? Would I apply then directly to my scalp, or just in my hair? Should I apply heat or just let them set for a few minutes to an hour? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
All natural for the second time since October 30, 2010 after cutting the last 3-4 inches of t-laxed hair. I am learning to love and style my curly 3C/4A hair without frying it with the flat iron

My goal is to have BSL hair again in 18 months! I'm a PJ and always on the look out for my Holy Grail! :laughing6:

I've been using coconut oil. I've only done it a couple times as a pre conditioning treatment. My hair and scalp seem to enjoy it :)

i find rosemary oil works really well if i add a few drops to some conditioner and massage it into my scalp then leave it for a few minutes and rinse out. it smells really good too!

I love the emu oil. Best oil I have used so far.

I found this site that gives a ton of recipes and info on the oils and blends you can use for diffrent scalp and hair conditions. Check out the ingredient page for lots of info on some oils that might help you. :)

I have 100% pure canola oil and was wondering if it works well on hair? Anyone tried it and got good results (whether used alone or with other oils/ingredients)?

Cold-pressed grapeseed oil. On wet hair it detangles and is great to use and rinse out before conditioning. On body, same thing. I mix it in hand with shea butter to clean face.
