Possible to Low Poo, with regular shampoo?

I want to use up the rest of my regular shampoo, then I think I'll pick up a sulfate free shampoo and low poo (once a week) with that instead. Would this be ok to do? Is low poo-ing once a week ok?

Whether or not you need to shampoo once a week or so really depends on whether the conditioner and other hair products you use contains cones. If you water wash, scrub/massage your scalp and rinse well before using conditioner to detangle and moisturize, then you may be able to go shampooless. It may take 3 - 6 weeks for your hair and scalp to adjust, though, so you'll have to be patient. It really depends on your hair, so be willing to experiment a bit to see what brings out your best natural curl. BTW, you've got some beautiful curls, especially in the back.

Thanks Ewen, I just wish that all of my curls were the same. This wavy front, curly back stuff is killing me! LOL I'll have to check my products and see if they contain silicones. So if they do, then wash weekly or so and if not then I might try to wean myself off of the shampoo. Would a sulfate free cleaner/shampoo be just as good as going shampoo-less? Or is cold turkey the best way to go? I'll just have to play around, though that kind of makes me a little nervous:tongue5:

I think you need to find what works for you. I have tried to just co wash for weeks and I just feel itchy, so I started to low poo (devacurl or Jessicurl) when I feel I need to..it's seems about every 10 days or so I do this. But that works best for my hair.

that's what I do, too! I can't NOT use a 'poo of some sort of else my hair goes all gunky & horrible. I use a sulphate-free 'poo twice a week, but I'm looking around for some poo-alternatives. If I can find something suitable, I might cut that down to once a week or less, since they are quite pricey.

Have used ACV before, but it takes too long for the pre-work morning shower (good on weekends when you have time though). Other people suggest baking soda or lemon juice for cleaning alternatives.
Pretty much a 2c, but a bit flatter on top than I'd like!!

Now that i've healed most of the dryness in my hair, I like to use some type of shampoo. If I have a sulfate free, I'll use it daily. If I have left over sulfate poos, I'll shampoo every couple of days - so really, ya, it depends on your hair type, level of dryness, and how it responds to shampoo.

If I have a shampoo that I find to be too harsh and I want to use it up, I use it to clean my toilet. :laughing7:
